WhyBuyNew: new, used and B-Stock DJ and hi-fi equipment

WhyBuyNew is a UK-based retailer specialising in DJ and hi-fi equipment. Its catalogue combines brand-new products with used and B-Stock units, and the company presents itself as a destination for quality equipment from manufacturers including Pioneer DJ, Denon, Numark, Technics, Naim Audio, Tannoy, Chord and Cyrus. According to its own description, every product passes through testing, cleaning and packaging processes before sale.

What the shop sells

The range is organised around several broad families. The DJ side covers CD and MP3 players, DJ controllers, DJ mixers and DJ turntables. The hi-fi side includes hi-fi separates, cassette decks, hi-fi amplifiers, hi-fi CD players, hi-fi tuners, home AV, hi-fi speakers, music systems and record players or turntables.

Beyond electronics, the store lists stands and cases, lighting and effects, sound and PA, studio equipment, and a lifestyle and fitness section. Accessories form a further group, with cables and connectors, headphones, lighting accessories, microphones, spare parts and other accessories.

Stands, cases and lighting

The stands and cases area is broken down into equipment cases and bags, DJ and PA cases, CD cases, instrument cases, lighting cases and bags, and vinyl storage cases. Stands and accessories include DJ equipment stands, instrument stands, lighting stands, seats and other stands, speaker stands and stand accessories.

Lighting and effects covers disco lights, effects machines, lasers, lighting controllers, moving heads, parcans and uplighting. The sound and PA section lists amplifiers and heads, microphones, active speakers, portable PA and speaker packages, while musical instruments include drum kits and percussion, electronic instruments, guitars and strings, and keyboards.

Studio, lifestyle and accessories

Studio equipment is divided into audio interfaces, MIDI keyboards and controllers, control surfaces, production controllers, mixing desks, samplers and synthesizers, and studio monitors. The lifestyle and fitness section sits alongside photo, video and hobby categories.

Among the accessories, the shop lists cables and connectors, headphones, lighting accessories, microphones, other accessories and spare parts.

Buying used equipment and selling to the shop

WhyBuyNew also buys equipment from customers. Its site invites owners to sell DJ equipment and hi-fi equipment, stating that its specialist team can offer an instant price. Used items in the catalogue are described individually, for example a used Akai Professional MPC Live III workstation supplied in its original box with power lead and quick start guide, or a used ADJ Stinger Gobo lighting effect with mains cable, user manual and hanging bracket.
