Localeyes Optometrists Ltd is an independent optometry practice owned and operated by optometrist Colette Dunsmore BSc(Hons) MSc Dip Tp(IP) MC Optom MOptScot. The practice is based in Stonehouse, Larkhall, and at the time of writing was in its twentieth year of operation. Its core work covers eye tests and contact lenses, and it also treats red and sore eyes.

Clinical qualifications behind the practice

Colette Dunsmore qualified in optometry in 1992 and passed her Diploma in Therapeutics in 2010. According to the practice, she was one of the first 50 optometrists in the UK to qualify in Therapeutics, a status that allows her to prescribe medication for sore and infected eyes. In 2018 she completed an MSc in Clinical Ophthalmology and Vision Research and was, at the time of writing, studying towards a PhD.

She passed her NESGAT qualification in May 2023, which enables her to manage stable glaucoma patients who have been discharged from hospital care. She is also registered with the General Ophthalmic Services Specialist Supplementary Scheme for the management of severe eye problems.
