Coo-Var

Coatings for floors and specialist surfaces

Coo-Var makes specialist paints and coatings for commercial, industrial and domestic projects. Its catalogue covers floor, sport and line-marking paints, swimming-pool coatings, metal paints, varnishes and oils, specialist primers, wood care and surface-preparation products. Applications listed on the site include warehouses, factories, garages, concrete floors, car parks, schools, sports facilities, driveways and retail premises. Selecting a coating starts with the substrate and its condition, exposure and intended use; the manufacturer’s product specifications describe the systems intended for each surface.

Preparation and product specification

The company provides a floor-paint selection and application guide and technical information on preparation, repair, cleaning and application. The site says its technical team can advise on products and methods for concrete, metal, damp areas, swimming pools and other specialist environments. Surface preparation, curing conditions and compatibility between primer and finish can affect the result, so a contractor should follow the specified system rather than mixing products without checking. Coo-Var also offers site visits and tailored specifications for larger projects.

Contractor support and project examples

Coo-Var supports contractors and decorators with coating advice, specifications and project assistance. Its case studies include a garage-floor refurbishment using acid etch, sealer and Profloor Plus, a bathroom project using anti-condensation paint and work at a school. For a large commercial or industrial floor, customers can discuss the area, traffic, substrate condition, cleaning regime and downtime available for application. The technical team can then recommend a system and clarify expected preparation and application steps; the final specification should be reviewed against site conditions.

British manufacturing and enquiries

The website says Teal & Mackrill began manufacturing paints in the UK in 1908, giving Coo-Var more than a century of manufacturing history. Visitors can shop online, find a stockist, request contractor support, download guides and read product data. The technical-services telephone number shown is +44 (0)1482 328053, and a contact form is available for project enquiries. Customers should consult each product’s current safety data, technical sheet, coverage and delivery information before purchase, especially when specifying coatings for an occupied building or a regulated work environment.
