About ECO Energy Services
ECO Energy Services: government-backed heating and retrofit installations
ECO Energy Services is a UK retrofit installer focused on government-funded energy efficiency work. The company describes itself as TrustMark registered and compliant with PAS 2030/2035 standards, and states that installations are carried out by MCS-certified and Gas Safe engineers. Its stated aim is to make retrofit improvements affordable for homeowners and private landlords while making homes "smarter, greener, and cheaper".
The firm reports more than 20 years of industry experience and over 10,000 installations, and works on both residential and commercial properties. It also presents itself as handling the documentation and paperwork side of each application.
ECO4 Scheme and free heating grants
The core of the offer is the ECO4 scheme, which the company describes as fully funded by the UK government and active until 31 December 2026. Households on low incomes or receiving certain benefits may qualify for a free replacement of a boiler, electric storage heater, insulation or air source heat pump. The specific grant lines presented are:
- Free boiler grant: replacement of an old boiler with a new A-rated condensing boiler installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
- Air source heat pump grant: substitution of outdated heating systems with a renewable air source heat pump installed by MCS-certified engineers.
- First-time central heating grant: a complete system including boiler, radiators, pipework and smart heating controls for properties that do not currently use radiators and boilers, with a radiator fitted in every living room.
- Electric storage heating grant: high heat-retention storage heaters for homes without a gas connection.
- Home insulation grant: loft, cavity wall, underfloor and internal wall insulation for eligible households.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme and heat pumps
Under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), the company assists applicants in requesting a £7,500 voucher from Ofgem, or £9,000 for off-gas-grid properties heated with oil or LPG. The voucher is intended to cover part of the cost of replacing a fossil fuel or electric heating system with an air source heat pump. The company states that it submits the voucher application on the customer's behalf.
It presents air source heat pumps as up to 400% energy efficient, controllable from a smartphone, and capable of delivering up to £550 in annual savings alongside a smart tariff. A valid EPC is required. The voucher is described as covering the cost of an air-to-water heat pump plus installation, and flexible financing is offered.
Solar PV and battery storage
Solar work is offered outside the government-sponsored schemes, with a financing option spread over 5 to 25 years. The company says panels carry a 25-year warranty and that a £0 upfront option is available for solar panels with battery storage. Rather than off-the-shelf packages, it describes combining high-performance panels, integrated storage, smart control and future-ready options into a single PV system.
The financing plan is said to cover the warranty on panels, inverters and battery storage, with free replacement during the financing period. The company also points to the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) as a way to earn money by exporting surplus electricity to the national grid, and claims savings of up to 90% per year.
How the process works
The stated workflow has three stages: a short online form about the property and its structure; an assessment in which a specialist contacts the customer to define requirements for design and planning; and installation by a professional installer once the work is scheduled. The company says each property is assessed and the installation plan designed around its requirements.
It also states that it selects product brands on technical merit rather than cost, is not tied to specific manufacturers, and leaves the brand choice open to the customer. Support is offered with DNO applications, BUS grants and Energy Performance Certificates.
