abc Signs and Designs: signwriting and print from Wiltshire

abc Signs and Designs is a sign-making and print business that has been trading since 1988, when Chris started it after finishing college and beginning a five-year apprenticeship with three local sign-writers. The company has operated under different names over the years: it began as C. Turner – Sign-writer, later became Turner’s Signs when his father joined the business, and adopted the current name abc Signs and Designs in 2010. The business is run by Chris, who continues to offer design, print and sign solutions.

From hand-painted signs to modern production

The company’s origins are in traditional signwriting. In the 1980s, display boards, windows, banners, boards and vehicles were lettered by hand with brushes, palette and enamel paints. The business painted all types of lettering, gold leaf, pictures, pub signs, murals, and vehicle and van graphics by hand. Hand-painted work is still available when required, and some customers continue to value the hand-painted effect. Most of the work, however, now uses modern sign-making systems, including high-quality vinyl graphics and large-format printed images and logos.

Signage products and services

The sign side of the business covers vehicle graphics, safety and counter signs, magnetic signs, banners and flags, sign writing, window graphics and pavement signs. These are offered alongside print products and print and design services, floor stickers and decals, canvas prints, graphic design and web design.

Beyond signage, abc Signs and Designs has expanded into business stationery and graphic design. The company provides print and design solutions and states that its expertise and knowledge extend across 30 years.
