Play Netball

Play Netball: women-only netball leagues across the UK

Play Netball operates a network of adult netball leagues at more than 150 locations across the United Kingdom. The organisation states that it has over 50,000 registered players and describes its leagues as social, fun and inclusive, aimed at women aged 18 and over. Its presentation stresses that the leagues suit people who have not played for a long time and are looking for a setting focused on the sociable side of the sport.

The leagues are women-only and open to all abilities. According to the information provided, around 90% of players sign up without a team, and Play Netball places them with other participants. Teams and groups can also join. Multiple divisions are used so that teams face opponents of a similar level.

What the leagues provide

Play Netball handles the organisational side of each league. The services listed include fixtures, league tables, umpires and scorers, as well as online team management. The organisation also refers to quality umpires, indoor and outdoor venues, and first-class support. The stated aim is that players only need to turn up and play.

Competitions, awards and partnerships

Throughout the year, Play Netball holds competitions for teams and individual players, with prizes. It also refers to awards and a competition gallery. The organisation lists partnerships with Sky VIP, Flyhawk, Jaycee Trophies and Wales Netball.

Umpiring opportunities

Play Netball recruits umpires for its leagues and welcomes all umpire qualifications, including trainees. It states that umpires are paid £10 for each 40-minute game, with three to four games a night. Those interested can sign up or email info@play-netball.co.uk.

Juniors and academy

Beyond adult leagues, the site's navigation refers to a juniors section, a Play Netball Academy and after-school sports clubs. The material provided does not detail the content or scope of these programmes.

Reviews and player feedback
