MooAngel

Handmade wooden play and learning equipment from MooAngel

MooAngel is a British maker of wooden play and learning products aimed at early years settings, schools and nurseries. The company describes itself as a small team with backgrounds in primary and secondary education, early years child development, outdoor learning and woodworking, and it presents outdoor play as the thread that connects those skills. Its catalogue is organised around how children use the equipment rather than around furniture types, with sections for imaginative play, sensory play, climbing and balancing, furniture and storage, language and literacy, maths and technology, and gardening and nature.

Play categories in the catalogue

The range is grouped into broad areas of activity. Imaginative play covers role play resources, including transport, construction and small world sets, shelters and dens. Sensory play includes sand and water play. Climbing and balancing is split between indoor and outdoor equipment. Furniture and storage covers indoor furniture, playground seating, dividers and storage, while language and literacy gathers alphabet sets, story chairs, book storage and mark-making resources. Maths and technology focuses on early number and technology, and gardening and nature includes planters, wooden animal sculptures and nature items.

Bespoke work and materials

MooAngel states that it can modify any existing product, for example by making it larger or smaller, changing the colourway or altering the configuration. Wood is the main material across the range, chosen, in the company's account, because it is a natural material with a rich variety of colour, texture, weight and shape.
