Exercise Prescription is a specialist personal training service led by Tracey Pinfold, offering individualised exercise programmes for cancer recovery, chronic health conditions and longevity.

About Exercise Prescription

Specialist exercise support for cancer recovery and chronic health

Exercise Prescription is a personal training service led by Tracey Pinfold, a specialist personal trainer qualified to work with people affected by cancer, those managing chronic illnesses and individuals seeking to maximise longevity. The service is client-centred and begins with a thorough assessment, after which Tracey creates and delivers an individualised, needs-based exercise prescription aimed at promoting sustainable healthy behaviours.

The business originated from Tracey's own breast cancer diagnosis in 2016. During that period she found it difficult to locate qualified support to prepare for treatment, maintain fitness and rebuild afterwards. That experience led her to create a service for others facing similar challenges. As the business has grown, it has also begun working with clients who simply want to improve their general fitness.

Three areas of specialist support

Exercise Prescription structures its work around three main areas:

  • Cancer: safe, evidence-based training intended to aid recovery, improve function and enhance quality of life during and after treatment.
  • Longevity: programmes designed to build resilience, preserve muscle and metabolic health, and support healthy ageing.
  • Chronic Health: tailored plans to help manage symptoms, increase capacity and reduce risk factors for conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and arthritis.

Tracey works alongside the client's wider care team as needed, adapts the plan as needs evolve and provides ongoing support. Sessions are available online, in person and on demand, catering both for people with specific health needs and for those aiming to improve overall fitness.

Delivery formats and client experience

Tracey works with clients online, in person and on demand. The live Express PT classes are 30 minutes long and are offered in morning and evening slots, with a varied focus across arms, legs, combat, strength and stretch, and core. The On Demand library provides recorded workouts, and the AI assistant supports personalised planning and questions. Heart rates are monitored throughout each exercise session, according to the information available.

Client feedback published on the site describes experiences including preparation for surgery, management of type 2 diabetes and participation in online classes. One client reported that their HbA1c level reduced from 61 to 49 since exercising. Another described a bespoke programme that helped a 76-year-old prepare for a major operation and pass a pre-operative assessment. These accounts are individual testimonials and are not presented as verified outcomes for all clients.

Assessment and clinical collaboration

Every client relationship begins with a thorough assessment. Tracey then designs an individualised exercise prescription and adapts it as the client's needs change. She works alongside the client's wider care team as needed. The service is aimed at people preparing for surgery, maintaining physical activity throughout treatment or seeking an exercise routine suited to their circumstances.
