About 1881 Distillery & Gin School
A distillery at Peebles Hydro
1881 Distillery & Gin School is based at Peebles Hydro in the Scottish Borders. The distillery was built on the site of the hotel’s Victorian swimming pool and uses water from its private Shieldgreen spring. Its story draws on the hotel’s tennis pavilion and the tradition of gin and tonic on the lawn. The distillery’s copper still is named Felicity.
Gin range and distilling experiences
The range presented on the website includes Hydro, Pavilion, Honours, Rafters and Tiffin gins, as well as Scottish sloe gin. Hydro is described as a London dry gin, while Pavilion is a pink gin. Visitors can explore the distillery through tours and experiences, while the gin school offers the opportunity to make a gin. The site also refers to the gardens at Peebles Hydro as part of the setting for a visit.

The distillery is on Innerleithen Road in Peebles. Its online shop lists bottles and gift packs, with individual pages showing the available sizes and current prices.
