About Vets2Home – Peaceful Pet Goodbyes
Vets2Home: in-home end-of-life veterinary care in Sussex and Surrey
Vets2Home – Peaceful Pet Goodbyes is a family-run mobile veterinary practice specialising in end-of-life care delivered at the owner's home. Founded and owned by Dr Suzen Gregersen, the service has been helping families and pets in the Brighton and Sussex area since 2005, with Surrey and bordering areas also covered. The team describes its work as gentle, professional in-home veterinary care, animal hospice, palliative medicine and home euthanasia, and states that clients do not need to be registered with the practice to request a home visit.
The practice treats dogs, cats, rabbits and other treasured family pets, focusing on animals approaching old age, coping with chronic disease or facing a terminal illness. Its stated aim is to reduce stress, anxiety and travel by bringing the consultation to the pet's own environment.
The founder and the veterinary team
Dr Suzen Gregersen holds the qualifications DVM, MBA, CHPV and MRCVS and is described as one of the first certified animal hospice and palliative care vets in the UK, as well as one of only a handful of US Certified Vets in the country within that field. She began her pioneering mobile practice in 2005.
She was joined in 2014 by Senior Veterinary Surgeon Dr Joaquin Perez Feliu (BVSc MRCVS), who brought extensive clinical practice experience to the end-of-life mobile service. Dr Emma Dixon (BSc Hons, BVetMed MRCVS) graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2019, worked for several years in a busy general practice and completed a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies before joining the team in 2023. Dr Emily joined in 2026. The practice presents itself as a small team of specially trained end-of-life vets.
Quality of life assessment and pre-euthanasia consultation
Among the services listed are quality of life assessments, pre-euthanasia consultations, a gentle two-step euthanasia protocol, a nature goodbye and aftercare services. For owners monitoring a declining pet, the practice offers downloadable daily or weekly quality of life check forms and a scoring chart intended to help track comfort levels and recognise when the time is approaching. The team states that it has many years of experience supporting families in judging when comfort and joy have disappeared and pain and suffering are taking over.
How home euthanasia is carried out
The practice describes its approach as always including a tailored, pain-free sedation first, a step it calls "The Loving Choice", followed by the euthanasia itself. It frames putting a dog or cat to sleep at home as the last gesture of love and the ultimate pain relief when other options to keep the animal comfortable have been exhausted. The service is presented as unhurried and personal, with separate guides covering mobile cat euthanasia and in-home dog euthanasia across Sussex and Surrey, including visiting areas.
The team also addresses the cost of putting a cat or dog to sleep, stating that it provides transparent pricing and personal support so families can make an informed decision. Its stated position is that one week or even one month "too soon" is kinder than one day "too late", and that a well-planned home euthanasia helps create gentle, lasting memories for the family.
Aftercare through Chestnut Lodge
For aftercare, Vets2Home works with a single partner, Chestnut Lodge Pet Crematorium and Pet Cemetery, which it describes as one of the most highly accredited pet crematoria in the UK. Chestnut Lodge is a founding member of the APPCC, is independently inspected and adheres to the APPCC Code of Practice. A range of options is available to honour the pet afterwards, and the practice states that animals are handled with the same care and respect as its own pets throughout the process.
General home visits and charitable giving
Beyond end-of-life work, the practice also offers general veterinary consultations in the owner's home seven days a week, aimed at ailing or sick pets for whom travel is difficult. The practice states that it donates £5 to the Angel Fund for every animal it helps, supporting what it describes as a small, animal-loving charity.
Appointments for urgent and same-day home visits, general enquiries, advice and specialist end-of-life care are handled through the office. The practice also publishes a memorial wall, a blog and information on CBD, alongside its fee and price information.
