Fredmans Furniture

Fredmans Furniture, a family furnisher in Paignton

Fredmans Furniture is a family-owned and family-run furniture retailer that, according to its own presentation, has been trading for more than 75 years and forms part of what it describes as one of the largest family-owned retail groups in the country. Its main showroom is on Torquay Road in Paignton, where the company says customers can park free of charge and receive free delivery throughout the region.

The store positions itself around personal service: the company states that it offers expert advice and help with furnishing needs, and it invites shoppers to browse new collections in person rather than only online. It also highlights its long trading history and physical premises as reasons to buy from it.

Upholstery: fabric and leather sofas and chairs

A large part of the catalogue is upholstered furniture. The fabric range covers sofas, armchairs, recliners, sofa beds and corner sofas. In leather, the store lists leather sofas, leather armchairs, leather recliners and leather corner sofas, describing these pieces as upholstered in 100% luxury leather in classic styles.

Buyers can also filter by type and size. The type categories include armchairs, bar stools, corner groups, chaise sofas, dining chairs, footstools, recliners, sofa beds and riser recliners. By size, the range is organised into four-seater, three-seater and two-seater sofas.

Beds, mattresses and bedroom furniture

The bedroom section combines beds and bedroom storage. Under beds, the store lists mattresses, divan beds, ottoman beds, bed frames, adjustable beds and divan bases. Bedroom furniture includes wardrobes, bedside cabinets, chests of drawers, dressing tables, headboards and blanket boxes, alongside bed accessories such as pillows and mattress protectors.

Brands feature prominently in this area. Tempur mattresses appear in the offers with a price of £1,899, and the Hepburn ottoman is presented as a best-of bed frames option at £899. The site also refers to bed special offers and to furniture made in the UK.

Dining, tables and storage

Dining furniture is organised by table type and by sets. The tables listed include dining tables, coffee tables, nest of tables, lamp tables, console tables and desks, with dining chairs and extending tables also available. Among the set offers, the Ironworks dining set is shown at 40% off with a price of £1,239, and the Bowie coffee table is listed at £349.

Storage covers sideboards, TV units, bookcases, blanket boxes, bedside cabinets, footstools and chests of drawers. The store presents sideboards as a way to combine style and function.

Brands and seasonal collections

Fredmans organises part of its offer around named brands, including G Plan, Parker Knoll, Ercol, Tempur, Hypnos, Himolla, Duresta and The Lounge Co., with a separate A–Z brand index. An autumn collection highlights selected pieces such as the Alfredo sofa, Naxos dining table, Anouka dining chair, a Tempur bed frame and the Cove sideboard.

The site also groups products by room: living room, dining room, bedroom, garden furniture, home office and accessories. The accessories section covers lighting and lamps, mirrors and rugs. Promotional banners advertise reductions of up to 40% on sofas, up to 50% on beds and dining, and up to 30% on storage.

Buying terms and services

Several commercial conditions are stated on the site. Delivery is described as free and expert, and the company advertises a price promise guarantee. Interest-free credit is offered on orders over £600. Free fabric swatch samples are available for many sofa ranges, and customers can book an appointment at a store.

The company also mentions Staingard protection as an optional add-on at checkout and a "peace of mind" page for further details. Customer reviews displayed on the site are summarised as "Excellent" based on 48 reviews, with individual comments referring to named staff and to purchases of sofas, mattresses and dining furniture.
