About Nook Saunas
Nook Saunas: home infrared saunas with installation included
Nook Saunas is a UK retailer of infrared saunas for domestic use, sold through its online shop. The range is organised around the Nook Core line, offered in one-, two- and three-person versions, and the company presents installation by its own technicians as part of the purchase rather than an optional extra.
The site describes infrared saunas as an alternative to traditional saunas: infrared heaters warm the body directly instead of heating the surrounding air, so the cabin operates at lower temperatures, which the company puts at roughly 49-66°C against the 77-93°C of a traditional sauna. Nook frames this as making longer sessions more tolerable for people who find intense heat uncomfortable.
The Nook Core range
The catalogue lists three sizes of the Nook Core, each with a discounted price shown at the time of writing:
- Nook Core (1 person): £1,499, reduced from £2,100.
- Nook Core (2 person): £1,899, reduced from £2,500.
- Nook Core (3 person): £2,299, reduced from £3,000.
The two-person model is the one the company highlights as its most popular and the one it says suits most households. Its published specifications include Canadian Hemlock wood, six carbon far-infrared heating panels described as ultra-low EMF, Bluetooth audio, a compact footprint and a standard domestic 13A plug for power. Nook states that running costs average £0.44 per hour.
Delivery, installation and after-sales
Delivery and installation are included free within 60 miles of Oldham, Manchester, and within 40 miles of Birmingham city centre. Requests outside those areas can be considered, sometimes at an additional cost depending on distance, and delivery is arranged after purchase. The company says its team has installed more than 1,000 saunas and that installers remove the packaging waste.
Installation requires only a standard 13A socket and an indoor location. Nook advises against outdoor placement, noting that the saunas perform optimally at ambient temperatures of 20°C and above.
Safety testing and environmental claims
Under the name NookShield, the company states that its saunas exceed the UKCA electrical and safety requirements and that units are tested in extreme and unrealistic scenarios. It also says three trees are planted for every sauna sold.
Renting before buying
Through a partnership with Rent a Sauna, customers can lease a unit before committing to a purchase. The published trial pricing is £59 per week on a one-month lease, £49 per week over three months and £39 per week over six months, with delivery and installation included and no hidden fees. At the end of the lease the sauna can be bought.
Other products and content
Beyond saunas, the site lists a Red Light line of red light therapy devices by Nook, gift cards and a section of ex-rental saunas. It also maintains a blog with articles on building an infrared sauna routine, the use of infrared saunas alongside weight loss and the differences between far-infrared and traditional saunas.
The company presents itself as an alternative to established brands that, in its words, charge thousands more for similar products, positioning its pricing as avoiding a luxury-brand markup. The site also states that its products are used by Olympians, doctors and professionals, and displays a five-star review rating attributed to Trustpilot.
