About Wincham Hall Country Hotel
A family-run country hotel and wedding venue near Northwich
Wincham Hall Country Hotel occupies a historic building in Wincham, near Northwich, within landscaped grounds that the property describes as extending to five acres. The hotel presents itself as a family-owned and family-run business and states that its purpose is to provide food, entertainment, relaxation and accommodation for the events and stays it hosts. Its activity centres on exclusive weddings, although it also takes christenings, private functions and conferences.
The venue is licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships, and the setting is described as rural, in the heart of Cheshire. Wedding enquiries are handled by wedding coordinators, who give prospective clients a guided tour of the facilities: the main hall space, a chapel described as modern, the gardens surrounding the property and the eleven en-suite bedrooms.
Weddings and celebrations
The hotel specialises in exclusive weddings and offers a range of wedding packages, among them a Special Package and an All-Inclusive Wedding Package, which the venue says can be tailored to each client. Beyond weddings, it hosts christening parties and engagement events, and it can adapt its spaces to the type of celebration requested. A wood burner next to a well-stocked bar area is mentioned as part of the setting available to guests.
Private viewings can be arranged, and dietary requirements must be raised before any event so that the venue can accommodate them.
Bedrooms and facilities
The accommodation consists of eleven uniquely decorated en-suite bedrooms, each with its own characteristics and design. The room selection shown includes double, single and twin en-suite rooms, with features such as blackout curtains, tea and coffee facilities, complimentary toiletries, cots, desks, hairdryers and ironing boards depending on the room type. Some rooms have an en-suite shower and others a shower and bath.
Facilities listed for guests include disabled facilities, linen and towels provided, credit cards accepted, free WiFi, free parking, a vegetarian option, a bar, conference facilities, wedding functions, a bridal suite, a country retreat setting and a family room. A golf course is noted within two miles.
The building and its grounds
The property traces the estate's history to "Winundersham", first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1087, and to its passage through the Venables family over the following centuries. The hall was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century by descendants of the family, and in 1910 it became a ladies college that drew students from West Africa, India and Chile. After the Second World War, much of the building was demolished, leaving a small part that now forms the centrepiece of the hotel; the owners have since extended and modernised the old house.
The gardens have been replanted with lawns, patios and walks among flowering shrubs and trees, and the grounds include weeping willows and a pond. The material describes the setting as suitable for weddings.
Location and access
The hotel sits between Manchester and Liverpool airports. Manchester, Warrington, Knutsford and the historic city of Chester are each given as approximately 12 miles away, with the M6 about 2 miles distant and the M56 about 5 miles away.
