Quartzize

Quartzize: quartz overlay worktops fitted over existing kitchens

Quartzize is a UK kitchen makeover specialist whose core product is a made-to-measure quartz overlay fitted directly on top of an existing worktop. The approach keeps the current kitchen units and carcass in place, so the surface is upgraded without a full rip-out. The company presents this as a faster and tidier alternative to replacing whole worktops, and states that most installations are completed within a single day.

The business describes itself as having grown from a single focus on quartz overlay worktops into a nationwide kitchen makeover operation, adding replacement kitchen doors to its range. It reports that more than 30,000 UK households have chosen it for kitchen makeovers.

How the overlay system works

Rather than removing the existing surface, Quartzize fits its quartz overlay neatly over the current worktop. The company says installation depends on the existing units or carcass being in reasonable condition. Because the sink and hob have to be disconnected during fitting, it notes that most installations are completed in one day, leaving the customer without a sink and hob for only a few hours.

Quartzize describes the finished surface as non-porous and almost perfectly smooth, with no room for germs to hide, unlike granite. It also states that the material has been tested against staining, including red wine, and that routine care consists of wiping the surface with a damp cloth.

Material properties and warranty

• Quartz is presented as an engineered stone, which the company says avoids the colour-matching issues and surface cracks associated with natural granite slabs.
• The surface is described as scratch resistant and durable enough for everyday knocks and scrapes; Quartzize notes that scratching it would typically require a material of similar hardness, such as diamond or sapphire.
• New quartz worktops carry a six-year warranty, according to the company.
• The overlays are described as 100% silica-free.

Worktop finishes in the range

The Quartzize worktop range shown on the site includes Cornflower Blue, Rose, Argento, Terrazzo, Grigo Glitter, Carrera, Gold, Travertine, Pino, Argento Macchia, Nero, Plantino Glitter, Calcatta, Retro, Sasso, Risso, Sabbia and Riso. The company positions quartz as a timeless stone finish that does not go out of fashion.

Replacement kitchen doors

Alongside worktop overlays, Quartzize offers a range of replacement kitchen doors. The door styles listed are Somer, Langford, Ellis, Colton, Radnor, Slab, Bexley, Alder, Marlow, Barton, Huxley and Wesley. Customers can combine worktops and doors in a single makeover, and the site's enquiry form asks whether the interest is in worktops, kitchen doors or both.

Coverage and fitting teams

Quartzize states that it works with professional fitting teams across England, Scotland and Wales, and cites Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester and London among the areas served. The company presents itself as a local kitchen makeover expert operating nationwide.

Home visits, quotes and finance

Quartzize offers a free home visit at which samples can be seen and measurements taken; the company says an accurate price is calculated from those measurements. It also offers callbacks with design consultants and a downloadable brochure. Flexible finance options are available, and the company states that quartz kitchen worktops can cost up to 30% less than granite. Finance is introduced through humm, with Quartzize acting as an Introducer Appointed Representative of Humm Group Limited; the site notes that applicants must be 18 or over, UK residents for the last three years, and that a minimum spend and 10% deposit apply.
