Fettes Sawmill

Timber, garden buildings and outdoor living in the Highlands

Fettes Sawmill Ltd operates from Killearnan on the A832, one mile from the Tore roundabout and about nine miles north of Inverness via the A9. The company states that it has been supplying timber and garden products throughout the Highlands for more than 30 years, and its range now spans structural and decking timber, made-to-order sheds, cabins, greenhouses, barbecue huts, saunas and garden furniture. The yard is presented as a place to see display models in person and draw ideas from the sales team.

Timber and decking materials

Timber is described as pressure treated to UC3 or higher. The catalogue covers decking, C16 structural timber, fencing, loglap, feather board and machine rounds, alongside composite decking with examples on site. Composite fencing and cladding are listed as coming soon. The wider timber and decking section also includes panels and gates, ironmongery, coatings, oils and treatments, and bespoke decking.

Sheds, cabins and garden buildings

Fettes builds and installs sheds across the Highlands and Islands, a line of work the company links to its 30-plus years of experience. The range includes apex and pent sheds, sheds and wood stores, pergolas and verandas, and garages. Summer houses and log cabins are designed and supplied as made-to-measure Bertsch-Holzbau and Lugarde models, with a template range called the Island Collection. Greenhouses are offered in Thermowood, with a display model available at the yard and free local installation advertised.

Garden rooms, sitooteries, gazebos and other buildings can be tailored to the customer. The company has its own installation team, which fits buildings onto a prepared base, and presents options to suit different budgets. Installation is also offered for garden buildings and decking, and local delivery is available on materials and furniture.

Barbecue huts, saunas and greenhouses

The barbecue hut and sauna range centres on grill cabins that double as practical garden houses or saunas. At the time of writing, the site listed Kota 6.5, Kota 9 and Kota 9 with extension models in stock, with limited stock of the Uno sauna and display models on site. Prices shown were £5,299.99 for the Kota 6.5 m², £6,199.99 for the Kota 9 m² and £9,399.99 for the Kota 9 m² with extension. The Vatersay cabin was also listed in stock at £3,699.99 for 8ft x 11ft and £4,299.99 for 11ft x 13ft.

Garden furniture, decor and firewood

The garden products side of the business covers picnic tables, dining sets, arbours and arches, benches, love seats, planters and raised beds, bird tables and feeders, garden decor, accessories, ground covering and wall art. A metal bin store range is also presented as new. Firewood is sold alongside, including a bundle of two 14kg bags of kiln-dried birch firewood, two 10-packs of birch briquettes, wood wool and kiln-dried kindling offered at £29.99.

How the company presents itself

Fettes describes itself as a friendly local company, lists eco-friendly products and safety consciousness among its attributes, and states that all aspects are covered. The site also gathers photographs of past installations shared by clients in a gallery.
