6 Science: chemical manufacturing and supply from Melton Mowbray

6 Science operates as a chemical manufacturer and reseller based in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, in the East Midlands. The company states that it purifies and tests chemicals using HPLC and GCMS machinery, and that it combines its own manufacturing with the distribution of industry-standard chemicals. Its range spans acids, alcohols, powders and liquids, and the company indicates that products not listed online can often be sourced on request.

Contract manufacturing and brand development

Beyond catalogue sales, 6 Science presents itself as a bespoke contract manufacturer. It lists three areas of work for third parties:

• Reagents and chemicals for laboratory needs.
• Brand development, including taking a new product to market.
• Blending and production, with mixing facilities, formulation specialists and bottle filling lines.

The company describes experience in product development across several sectors and the capacity to formulate, brand and mass produce a product so that a client can go direct to market.

Product categories in the catalogue

The online shop is organised into garden and home, therapy chemicals, automotive, health and beauty, and alcohols. Among the highlighted lines are bioethanol fire fuel for freestanding and built-in fireplaces, an automotive range described as running from detailing products to race fuel, and a garden line marketed as the "Garden Holy Trinity" of protection and growing aids. A plant vitality series includes products such as PK Boost 9/18, Killermite and Anabolic Plant Roids Concentrate.

The best-seller list shown on the site features Bio Ethanol 97%, Ethanol 99.8%, Methanol 99.99% and Acetic Acid 30%, each offered in a range of sizes and prices.

Shipping and order handling

6 Science states that it offers free, fast-tracked 24-hour shipping for the vast majority of the UK through Parcelforce and DX. For remote or offshore locations, it notes that timing may vary and that any courier surcharge is passed on at cost. Collection is possible by phoning ahead to confirm stock and bottling, and regular orders can be arranged with the office, a service the company says it provides for some large clients.

Laboratory and industrial supply

The company positions itself as a supplier to laboratories as well as to general buyers, with an emphasis on chemical purity and on the ability to procure and resupply chemicals that are not part of its standard online range.
