Tunstall
Tunstall supplies personal alarms with fall detection and location tracking, connected to a UK-based response centre that operates around the clock and coordinates help when an alert is raised.
About Tunstall
Tunstall personal alarms with fall detection and 24/7 response
Tunstall provides personal alarm services aimed at people who want extra reassurance at home or while out, including those living alone, concerned about falling or managing a long-term condition. The offer combines connected devices with a response service staffed by operators, and the company presents itself as trading since 1957.
How the alarm service works
The setup typically consists of a home unit plus one or more wearable or connected devices, such as a smart watch, a pendant or home sensors, and may also include smoke detectors. Depending on the equipment chosen, the user presses a button or a device sends an alert automatically. The alert connects to the Yorkshire-based response centre, where a trained operator speaks to the customer, establishes what has happened and arranges the appropriate support, which can involve contacting chosen contacts, family members, carers or emergency services.
The response team is described as UK-based and available day and night throughout the year. The company distinguishes this alarm response from its sales callbacks, which are handled separately.
Plans on offer
The shop lists two plans, billed monthly or annually, with prices shown including and excluding VAT:
- Stay Safe — 24/7 support at home with the option to add more devices. It includes a wearable falls detector and connection to the Yorkshire-based response centre, with live updates through the Tunstall app for a trusted circle listed as coming soon. Monthly service is £23.94 including VAT; the first payment is £65.94, covering the first month plus a £42 one-off setup fee, then £23.94 monthly from month two.
- Stay Independent — 24/7 support at home and on the go, with a location-tracking smart watch with customisable settings and connection to the 24/7 response centre. The Ally app gives families and carers an overview of location, alerts and activity. Monthly service is £32.40 including VAT; the first payment is £74.40, covering the first month plus a £42 one-off setup fee, then £32.40 monthly from month two.
Annual payment is also accepted and, according to the site, includes three months free. Customers with a long-term condition or disability may be exempt from VAT.
Getting set up and building a support circle
Installation can be done by self-setup or through an engineer visit, and the company states that either route connects the customer to support from the first day. Customers are then invited to build a circle of family, friends or neighbours who form part of their support network. A free Tunstall app, announced as coming soon, is optional and lets trusted contacts see whether an alarm has been raised; the service does not require it.
Referral offer and customer feedback
The site advertises a referral scheme: recommending Tunstall to someone who then joins gives both parties £20 credit, with no limit on the number of referrals. It also displays a Trustpilot review in which a customer describes the service as a lifeline for monitoring a parent and notes that staff were kind; the review is presented as an individual testimonial rather than a general assessment.
