The Sleep People

The Sleep People: online mattress and divan bed manufacturing in the UK

The Sleep People is a British online manufacturer and retailer of mattresses, beds and sleep accessories. The company states that it has been helping customers across the UK sleep better since 2014, when it was formed through the merger of two smaller firms. From that starting point it describes a growth path based on acquisitions and the launch of its own brands, positioning itself as one of the leading online mattress retailers in the UK by its own account.

Its commercial proposition rests on factory direct pricing, with products handmade to order and free UK delivery. The catalogue is organised around three main blocks: mattresses, beds and bed frames, and accessories.

Mattress ranges by construction and size

The mattress offer is grouped by type and by measurement. By construction, the store lists pocket sprung, hybrid, coil spring and foam mattresses, alongside cooling mattresses and toppers. It also carries specialised lines: cot mattresses, contract, Crib 5 and student mattresses, static caravan mattresses and custom size mattresses.

Sizing covers the standard UK spectrum and some European equivalents:

• Shorty small single (75 x 175 cm)
• Small single (75 x 190 cm)
• Single (90 x 190 cm)
• Small double (120 x 190 cm)
• Double (135 x 190 cm)
• King size (150 x 200 cm)
• Super king (180 x 200 cm)
• European small single (80 x 200 cm), single (90 x 200 cm), double (140 x 200 cm) and king (160 x 200 cm)

The company indicates that all popular UK, European and Ikea custom sizes are available on its mattresses.

Beds, frames and storage options

In the bed category, the range is divided by type into bed frames, divan beds and ottoman beds, and by size from small single up to super king. There is also a classification by material: wooden beds, fabric beds and metal beds. The company presents this section as covering every budget, from basic frame beds and divan bases to ottoman storage beds.

Accessories and own brands

Beyond mattresses and beds, the store sells sleep accessories, including pillows, mattress toppers and replacement mattress covers. It also markets its own brands, which it groups in a dedicated section of the site.

Product example and commercial terms

Among the featured products, the site describes a 25 cm deep hybrid mattress with individually pocketed springs, ComfortFlex memory foam, three-zone support, reinforced edges and breathable CoolFlow Luxe OEKO-TEX fabric, designed to reduce pressure and movement. The store also advertises payment through Klarna and, at the time of writing this profile, a promotion of up to 20% off all products.

Sector membership and charity links

The company states that its members belong to the National Bed Federation (NBF) and that it works with charity partners, without detailing which organisations these are.
