Poster Pigeon

Poster Pigeon: large-format poster printing from Manchester

Poster Pigeon is a family-run printing business based in Manchester that has operated in the printing industry for over 40 years, according to its own account. The company describes itself as a trade supplier whose clients are mostly businesses, and it presents its prices excluding VAT on that basis. Its service is built around large-format digital printing, with a catalogue that extends beyond posters to banners, signage and display hardware.

The company states that it aims to be the UK's cheapest supplier of quality large-format printing, a claim it makes in its own promotional copy rather than as an independently verified fact. It also notes that it acts as an advisor and supplier to other businesses within the printing world.

Poster ranges and paper weights

The poster catalogue is organised into three tiers, each with its own paper stock and print specification:

• Value Posters: 120gsm matt poster paper, digitally printed and described as UV fade resistant.
• Standard Posters: 180gsm matt poster paper with 8-colour print and UV fade resistance.
• Premium Posters: 260gsm satin or gloss paper with 8-colour photo printing and UV fade resistance. The company notes that this range was upgraded to the heavier 260gsm coated stock.

A separate Dayglo line is listed with 80gsm vibrant paper and black-only printing. The price comparison table on the site covers sizes from A4 to A0 as well as 16x20, 20x24, 20x30, 24x36 and 30x40 inches, although not every size is available in every range.

Beyond paper posters

Alongside standard poster printing, the product list includes mounted posters on Foamex signs, backlit Duratran posters, encapsulated posters, Correx boards, aluminium Dibond posters, waterproof posters and external signage. The company also offers pre-designed sale posters. Print and display services extend to leaflets and flyers, roller banners, outdoor vinyl banners, selfie frames, external display stands, canvas printing, colour CAD plots and A3 laser posters on 100gsm matt stock.

Roller banners are presented in standard and premium versions, and the site was advertising a special offer on the standard roller banner at £50 at the time of writing this profile.

Ordering, discounts and delivery

Customers upload their own artwork through the website, choose finishing options and place an order with no minimum order value. The company highlights next-day delivery as an available option. Quantity discounts apply from five posters, even when the files differ, with further reductions on orders of 50 or more. Delivery is free for orders over £100 to mainland UK addresses, while packing and delivery for smaller orders starts at £7.99 plus VAT. The service covers the whole of mainland UK from its Manchester base.

Who the posters are for

The company describes its Value range as suited to fly posters, advertising, band and gig posters, event promotion, exhibitions, openings, special visits, amateur dramatics, theatre posters, birthday parties, anniversaries, wedding receptions and seating plans. The Standard range is positioned for business use as well as education, higher education, art and design, promotions and display, including in-store advertising, point-of-sale posters, football clubs, sports centres, gyms and sales promotion work. The Premium range is aimed at photographic-quality large-format output, including transferring photographs to poster format.
