Gem Carpets & Beds

Gem Carpets & Beds: flooring and beds across Staffordshire and the West Midlands

Gem Carpets & Beds is a British retailer that sells carpets, hard flooring and beds through a network of showrooms in the West Midlands and Staffordshire. The company presents itself as a physical retailer built around in-store inspection, with the claim that customers can try before they buy and that its prices are better than internet prices. Its product range is organised into six categories: carpets, vinyl flooring and LVT, laminate flooring, end-of-roll carpets, artificial grass, and beds and mattresses.

Flooring ranges held in stock

The flooring side of the business covers both soft and hard surfaces. Carpets are sold alongside vinyl and LVT, laminate and artificial grass, and the company states that it holds thousands of square metres in stock and ready to order. A recurring feature of the offer is the end-of-roll carpet section, described as containing thousands of roll ends available in store with reductions on the recommended retail price. Vinyl is also kept as rolls in stock, with a choice of colours and designs.

Artificial grass is presented as an option that provides the appearance of green grass throughout the year without the mess associated with a lawn. The range is aimed at domestic interiors and outdoor surfaces rather than at contract or commercial specification, according to the material available.

Beds and mattresses

The bed division operates under the Lichfield Bed Centre name and offers beds and mattresses from what the company describes as the largest brands in the sector. Silentnight beds and mattresses are highlighted in the store's promotional messaging, which refers to in-store deals on that brand. The company frames the bed range as part of the same showroom experience as the flooring, with the same emphasis on seeing the product in person before purchase.

Six showrooms

The retailer lists six showrooms, although its own summary description refers to five. The locations named are Walsall Wood, Rugeley, Lichfield, Heath Hayes and Tamworth, with Lichfield appearing twice: once as the Lichfield Bed Centre and once as a separate Lichfield flooring showroom. Both Lichfield sites are on Windsor Business Park, Trent Valley Road, in different units. The other branches are in Walsall Wood, Tamworth, Rugeley and Heath Hayes.

Enquiries and product interests

The company channels customer contact through a quick enquiry form that asks for a name, email address and contact number, together with the nearest store and the type of enquiry. The enquiry categories listed are carpets, vinyl and LVT, laminate, roll ends, artificial grass, beds and mattresses, and general enquiries. The stated purpose of the form is to discuss flooring requirements and propose a solution and price.
