The Bowerham Chippy

The Bowerham Chippy, a fish and chip takeaway in Lancaster

The Bowerham Chippy is a takeaway food business on Coulston Road in Lancaster, in the United Kingdom. Its offer centres on fish and chips, and the shop also lists burgers and fast food among its categories. The business works on a pick-up basis: customers order and then collect their food at the shop rather than receiving a delivery.

Online ordering with manual confirmation

The takeaway has enabled online ordering for pick-up. According to its own description, customers select what they want and the kitchen prepares it as quickly as possible. Every order is confirmed manually by the shop, and the customer can follow the status on screen in real time to know when the food is ready for collection. The site also notes that the ordering system can remember details for a future order and facilitate reordering.

What is on offer

The material available points to a short, traditional takeaway menu rather than an extensive list of dishes:

• Fish and chips, the house speciality, with peas mentioned as an accompaniment.
• Burgers, listed as one of the takeaway categories.
• Fast food, the third category under which the shop presents itself.
• Drinks, referred to in the site's invitation to eat and grab a drink.

The shop states that its dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients and that it aims to serve food of consistent quality. These are the establishment's own claims about its kitchen and are reproduced here as such.

Pick-up service and opening hours

The business operates a pick-up service, with slightly different time windows for ordering and for collection. The shop's published hours distinguish between the general opening times and the pick-up service times, both split into a midday period and an evening period, with the evening service running every day of the week.
