Bedexpert - Peter Betteridge

Bedexpert - Peter Betteridge: a family bed retailer trading for over five decades

Bedexpert - Peter Betteridge presents itself as a family business with more than 50 years of trading, serving customers throughout the UK. Its activity centres on the sale of beds and mattresses alongside bedroom furniture, bed linen and seating, drawn from a long list of named manufacturers. The company states that it sells both in store and online.

Product ranges on offer

The catalogue is organised around five main blocks: beds, mattresses, linen and bath, seating and furniture, plus a clearance section. Each block is broken down by size, type, filling, feature and brand, which gives an idea of the breadth of the assortment rather than a single-product offer.

• Beds: divan, bedstead, ottoman and adjustable models, in sizes from small single through single, small double, double, king, superking and emperor, including zip-and-link versions of king, superking and emperor.
• Mattresses: pocket sprung with gel, latex, memory foam or natural fibres; memory foam and latex models; double-sided, one-sided, pillow top, quilted, tufted and mattress-in-a-box options, for divans, bedsteads and adjustable bases.
• Linen and bath: blankets, cushions, duvet covers and sets, fitted and flat sheets, kids' bed linen, pillowcases, throws and bedspreads, towels and bath mats, sorted by material, colour, pattern, size and thread count up to 1000.
• Pillows and duvets: alpaca, down and feather, foam, latex, memory foam, microfibre, V-shaped and wool pillows; alpaca, anti-allergy, coverless, down and feather, feels-like-down and wool duvets, classified by season, size and tog rating.
• Protectors: enhancer, pillow protector, mattress pads for slats, mattress protector and topper, by filling and size.
• Seating: chairs, sofas and sofabeds, including electric recliner, manual recliner and rise-and-recline models, in fabric or leather, from chair and snuggler up to four-seater and corner sofa.
• Furniture: bedside cabinets, chests of drawers, coffee tables, dressing tables and stools, mirrors, side tables and wardrobes, grouped into contemporary, painted and wooden styles and into named collections such as New England, Palermo, Provence and Stockholm.
• Headboards: floor-standing and strutted, upholstered or wooden, across the same size range as the beds.

Commercial terms and services

Beyond the product catalogue, the company advertises nationwide delivery, interest-free credit to spread payments, a price match promise, and disposal of a customer's previous bed. It also states that it has won awards and that it maintains a team of "bedexperts" to advise customers. The site provides buying guides for sizes, duvets and pillows, and a store locator, although the shop pages consulted do not itemise the individual showroom addresses.
