Think Free Solar: bespoke solar installation from Keighley across Yorkshire

Think Free Solar Ltd is a solar energy company based in Keighley (BD22) that designs and installs bespoke solar panel systems for homes and other properties. The company presents itself as an Octopus Trusted Partner and states that its team is MCS-certified. Its stated coverage spans Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester, with the company describing its systems as designed for the northern climate rather than adapted from a generic template.

The firm frames its approach around avoiding high-pressure sales and large commissions, arguing that working directly with customers produces clearer advice, closer personal support and a better price. Each project begins with a free consultation, during which the team works with the client to define the system that fits their needs.

Installation and system upgrades

The core service is a fully bespoke solar installation, planned from the initial consultation rather than sold as a fixed package. Alongside new installations, the company offers upgrades to existing systems so that a previously fitted set-up can be optimised for efficiency as energy requirements change. One example given is the later addition of electric vehicle charging to an existing installation, with the system kept optimised after the change.

Where the company works

Think Free Solar lists the areas it serves by locality, which gives a fairly detailed picture of its operating radius:

• Keighley & Worth Valley (BD20–22): work ranging from Victorian terraces in Saltaire to rural projects in Oakworth and Keighley.
• Skipton & the Dales (BD23–24): high-yield installations in Gargrave and Skipton.
• North Yorkshire & Ripon: east/west split systems in Leeming, heritage-conscious solar in Ripon and high-efficiency projects in Northallerton.
• Greater Manchester & Sheffield: solar and battery storage in Manchester and battery retrofits in Sheffield.
• Bradford, Leeds & Wharfedale: homeowners in Ilkley (LS29), Bingley, Otley and Guiseley, with smart-tariff integration.
• East Lancashire: installations in Colne (BB8), Burnley and Barnoldswick.

Battery storage appears as a recurring element of the offer, both in new installations and as a retrofit for existing solar set-ups.
