About City Mobility
Mobility scooters and powerchairs across the Highlands and North East Scotland
City Mobility has been serving customers throughout the Highlands & Islands and North East of Scotland since 2002. The business supplies powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters both privately and through the all-inclusive Motability Lease Scheme. It describes itself as the only powerchair and scooter Motability Scheme dealer north of the central belt.
Its private sales area is not the same as the area it covers for Motability, and the company points to separate information on the areas covered under that scheme.
Product range
The catalogue is organised around several families of equipment:
- Folding scooters, pavement scooters and road scooters.
- Folding powerchairs, pavement powerchairs and road powerchairs.
- Powerpacks and wheelchairs.
- Cabins and canopies.
- Minicrosser.
- Accessible golf buggies.
- Raymex Lift.
The Inverness showroom holds a large selection of products from well-known and respected suppliers, with an average of 50 to 80 products available on site, according to the company.
Motability Lease Scheme
City Mobility participates in the Motability Lease Scheme for scooters and powerchairs. The website includes a section explaining how the scheme works and lists Motability contact numbers.
Vehicle adaptations
The company is authorised to install, repair and service a wide range of car adaptations. The areas listed include dual controls, remote control devices, and wheelchair and scooter stowage, including boot hoists. It also refers to LOLER and to transporting people. Dual controls are fitted for driving instructors.
Servicing, repairs and short-term hire
Beyond sales, City Mobility services and repairs new and pre-owned mobility scooters and powerchairs, electric golf buggies and rise recline chairs. Customers do not need to have bought their equipment from the company to use this service. The engineers also service and repair wheelchair lifts and hoists in commercial, private and charitable vehicles.
The business offers short-term mobility scooter and powerchair hire, as well as an equipment disposal service. Its website also covers parts and servicing, batteries and golf equipment.
Showroom visits and consultations
The Inverness showroom is the setting for free, no-obligation consultations and test drives, which the company recommends arranging by appointment; drop-in visits are accepted but may involve a wait if staff are serving or expecting customers with scheduled appointments. It suggests allowing one to two hours for an in-depth discussion and for trying several products, and advises bringing a friend or family member. The showroom door may be locked on arrival because staff sometimes attend the workshop or accompany a customer on a short test drive, so visitors are asked to ring the bell.
Ownership and regulation
In July 2026, Able Care and City Mobility, which the company says have over 50 years of combined heritage in the mobility equipment sector, were acquired by Advanced Healthcare Group. According to the announcement, both businesses would continue operating as they are, with the same staff and management teams. Advanced Healthcare Group had also acquired Dundee-based Allardyce Healthcare the previous year.
