About Pure Mortgage Ltd
Whole-of-market mortgage advice from Hove
Pure Mortgage Ltd is an independent mortgage and insurance broker that presents itself as a whole-of-market intermediary: it is not owned by, or tied to, any single lender, so its recommendations are drawn from across the mortgage market. The firm states that it advises clients throughout the UK, with its office in Hove and a client base that extends beyond Brighton & Hove.
The company describes its approach as one-to-one and bespoke, with advice based on each client's individual needs and personal circumstances. It positions itself around helping clients finance and protect property in the quickest and most convenient way possible, and offers appointments in person, online, by telephone or by video call. Clients are also given access to a personal online portal available around the clock.
Mortgages, remortgages and buy to let
The core service is mortgage advice across the full range of products on the market. The firm lists first-time buyers, remortgaging, moving house and buying to let among the situations it handles, and states that it also assists borrowers whose mortgages run into retirement.
Equity release and later life lending
For clients aged 55 and over, Pure Mortgage advises on lifetime mortgages as a way of meeting a range of financial needs and goals. The firm presents this as an area where several options exist and where it provides clear, concise advice to help clients judge whether the route suits them. Director James Wadsworth is described as qualified to advise on all forms of later life lending, including lifetime mortgages, home reversion plans and retirement interest-only mortgages.
Protection and specialist lending
Alongside mortgages, the firm offers advice on insurance products intended to put protection in place for clients and their families, arguing that the right protection matters as much as the right mortgage. For more complex requirements it covers specialist lending, citing bridging and development finance, adverse credit, ex-pat and foreign national mortgages, and complex buy to let as examples.
Fees and regulatory status
Pure Mortgage charges a fee of between £395 and £495 for arranging a mortgage, depending on the complexity of the case. That fee is payable when the mortgage offer is produced, or on completion for lifetime mortgages, and the firm may additionally receive commission from the lender. The exact fee and any commission are confirmed in writing before the client proceeds. Pure Mortgage Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under number 915808 for mortgage, insurance and consumer credit mediation activities only, and is registered in England and Wales under number 12049309.
The team behind the brokerage
The firm was founded by director James Wadsworth, who has worked in financial services for more than 30 years, including 15 years as a branch manager for a high street bank. He is a fully qualified mortgage and protection adviser. Alex Hulford is the office manager and the first point of contact for clients, overseeing the day-to-day running of the office and the progress of cases from initial enquiry to completion; she has a background in management, customer service and training across the wine, skincare and property sectors and is studying for the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice.
Tools and resources
The website provides calculators for monthly mortgage payments, stamp duty, potential yields from investment properties and equity release, including a loan-to-value and partial repayment calculator. It also offers a credit report facility and a blog.
