About The Pilgrim Hotel

A former rectory turned hotel in Much Birch, Herefordshire

The Pilgrim Hotel occupies a building dating from 1880 that previously served as a rectory, now converted into a hotel in the village of Much Birch, Hereford. The property stands within four acres of gardens and its grounds look out over the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons.

Twenty-one en-suite bedrooms in three styles

The hotel has 21 en-suite bedrooms that have been recently updated while retaining the building's heritage. Guests can choose between the Classic Old Rectory Bedrooms, the Valley View Rooms with their sweeping views, and the Garden Suites, which the hotel presented as an addition planned for 2025.

The Valley View Restaurant and bar

The Valley View Restaurant serves breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners, with a choice of classic dishes and seasonal specialities. The menu, prepared by head chef Deepak, is updated regularly and built around seasonal produce from Herefordshire, with ingredients sourced from local businesses. The bar, overseen by bar and restaurant manager Trevor, features local beer, cider and spirits selected from local producers. The hotel also offers Sunday lunches and a takeaway option.

Golf breaks built around Rodway Hill

The hotel packages golf breaks around Rodway Hill, an 18-hole, par 70 parkland course of 6,071 yards that the hotel describes as recently recognised as an outstanding venue on Golfshake and rated a 4-star golf complex on the same platform. The course looks out over Gloucester and the surrounding area and lies roughly 35 minutes from the hotel, with transport to the course included in all golf breaks. The golf offer also covers stay-and-play packages and golf lessons.

Events, meetings and celebrations

The hotel hosts corporate meetings in dedicated meeting rooms and also takes bookings for celebrations and weddings. Gift vouchers for stays can be purchased for friends or family, and the hotel states that booking directly with it secures the best rates throughout the stay.
