About The Druidstone Hotel

A cliff-top hotel and restaurant above Druidstone Haven

The Druidstone Hotel occupies a position on the cliffs above the beach at Druidstone Haven, looking out across St. Brides Bay. The property sits within the Pembrokeshire National Park and is described as standing at the sea's edge in twenty acres of grounds. It has operated as a hotel and restaurant since 1972, when it was established by hotelier Jane Bell, who is credited with making Druidstone a force in Welsh arts.

The house is centrally heated by wood chip and contains ten bedrooms, most of which have sea or garden views. The dining room, sitting room and cellar bar open onto terraces and grassy slopes overlooking the sea. The atmosphere is deliberately informal: children and pets are welcomed, books and maps are kept on hand along with information on the locality, and there is a separate television room.

Hotel rooms and shared facilities

Five of the ten hotel rooms have private facilities in the form of showers, bathrooms or lavatories. The remaining rooms share three bathrooms, following the tradition of a typical family holiday house. The roof rooms on the second floor are fully en suite and have panoramic views of the bay from a shared balcony. The room list published on the site runs from Room 1 through Room 7, including Room 6a, plus the Attics, RoofSouth and RoofNorth.

Self-catering cottages

Five self-catering cottages stand very close to the main house. They are described as fully equipped and centrally heated, with gardens and ample parking. The cottages are named Wheelers, TopShed, Carpenters, Byre and The Roundhouse.

Dining, feasts and the Farmhouse Kitchen

The restaurant serves home-cooked food, and the bar is presented as a place to drink while taking in the scenery. The hotel also runs a programme of feasts drawing on cuisines from around the world, with Thai, Moroccan and Mediterranean menus named among them. The regeneration of the original family Farmhouse Kitchen created a room with a large oak table that can be used as a private dining room for up to fourteen people; the same room hosts children's supper at 6.00 p.m. each evening.

Events and celebrations

The hotel hosts weddings, birthday parties and corporate events, and its team works with organisers on the arrangements. Music festivals and seasonal menus appear among the events publicised on the site, alongside a newsletter for updates. The venue's setting, food and service are presented as the basis for gatherings held there.

Reviews and location
