Fixings Direct

Fixings Direct: trade fixings and building hardware from Somerset

Fixings Direct is a UK trade supplier of fixings, fasteners, screws, hardware and building supplies. The company presents itself as a source for both trade buyers and DIY customers, with a catalogue it describes as containing more than 2,000 products and a structure organised around professional departments rather than a single retail shelf.

The range is grouped into departments that cover screws, fixings and fasteners, building hardware and supplies, nails, security and ironmongery, adhesives and building chemicals, powertool accessories, hand tools, painting and decorating, and workwear, PPE and safety. Each department is subdivided into specific families, which gives an idea of the depth of the catalogue.

Screws and structural fixings

Within screws, the site distinguishes timber construction screws, dry-lining screws, metal construction screws and window fabrication screws. The fixings and fasteners section includes fasteners and fixings alongside masonry and cavity fixings. The nails department separates nails, pins and accessories, loose nails, and collated nails and fuel cells for the FirmaHold and Paslode systems.

Among the products highlighted in the deals and best-seller sections are TIMCO hex head wood screws for timber frame construction and landscaping, TIMCO A4 stainless steel screws, a JCP ETA Option 7 polyester injection resin for chemical fixing, and TIMCO Corefix 120 plasterboard anchors for brick, block and concrete walls. The catalogue also lists own-brand items such as hardwood wooden wedges, multi-truss joist hangers, fence post spike supports, mini joist hangers, concrete fence post security brackets and galvanised twist nails for joist hangers.

Building hardware, security and site consumables

The building hardware and supplies area brings together builders' metalwork, general building supplies, electrical and lighting products, and tarpaulin, sacks and bags. Security and ironmongery covers ironmongery, security, ropes and straps, Squire locks, gate hardware, fieldgate hardware and fence hardware.

Adhesives and building chemicals are divided into sealants and adhesives, tapes and building chemicals. The catalogue includes products such as CT1 TRIBRID multi-purpose sealant and adhesive, a Lithofin after-care kit for natural stone worktops and Vitcas heat-resistant tile adhesive.

Tools, decorating and protective equipment

Powertool accessories are organised by drilling, kits and sets, cutting, abrasives, chucks, keys and adaptors, driver bits, adaptors and socket drivers, and mixing. The hand tools department spans sawing and cutting, striking and demolition, files, rasps and chisels, bricklaying, plastering and tiling, pliers and cutters, screwdrivers, spanners and wrenches, clamping, levelling, measuring and marking, riveters and staplers, and cleaning and surface preparation tools.

Painting and decorating includes cleaning and preparation, paint brushes and sets, rollers, sets and poles, scuttles, kettles and trays, wipes, cloths and rolls, woodcare, and dust sheets and protectors. Workwear, PPE and safety is divided into safety, workwear, hi-vis clothing and PPE. The site also lists brands such as Dormer, Draper, Barrettine, TIMCO, Paslode, FirmaHold, Squire and Coral Tools.

Trade accounts, bulk pricing and delivery

The company advertises trade prices with bulk discounts across its departments, sold by the box, tub or pallet, and offers wholesale and bulk trade pricing on request. Customers can create a trade account, which the site presents as rewarded. Orders placed before a 2pm cut-off from Monday to Friday are dispatched the same day, and delivery is free above a stated order threshold. The site also offers a paid order cover that provides an instant replacement if an order is lost or damaged in transit.

For buyers who cannot locate a product, the company provides a search function and a specialist advice channel by chat or phone, aimed at matching the fixings to the job described.
