About Golfstream

Golfstream, electric golf trolleys and spares from Kent

Golfstream designs and sells electric golf trolleys and push carts, and runs a substantial spare-parts operation alongside them. The company states that it is based in Kent, in what it describes as the heart of electric golf trolley country, and that it was set up in 2008 by Derek Richford and Lee Stelfox. Its own presentation puts the combined experience of the team at more than 60 years in the electric golf trolley market, and it names Kaytlin and Lin as part of the staff.

The firm describes its aim as offering a more personal and helpful service than that of the leading brands, and presents itself as one of the fastest growing golf companies in the UK. Those are the company's own characterisations rather than independently verified claims.

The trolley range

The catalogue is organised around three electric models and one manual cart:

  • GX1 Electric Trolley, the entry point of the GX series.
  • GX3 Electric Trolley, a mid-range model in the same series.
  • GX5 Brake/EBS Electric Trolley, the version equipped with a braking or electronic braking system.
  • Express Push Cart, a manual cart that the company describes as light as a feather and opening in one step.

The GX series is presented as effortless to use and built to perform. Separately, the site gives prominence to a Motofish line of electric fishing trolleys, marketed with the line "More power. Less effort. More fishing." The company also refers to a Golfstream Vision trolley, described as the result of three years of work and, in its own words, the most ground breaking trolley to be launched in decades.

Accessories and batteries

Beyond the trolleys themselves, Golfstream sells a range of accessories and power products. The accessory catalogue includes golf bags and umbrella holders. On the power side it stocks lithium batteries under the CaddyCell name, lead acid batteries, mobility and ride-on batteries, battery chargers, and battery wires, caps, bags and straps. Test equipment is also listed.

Spare parts for its own and rival trolleys

The spare-parts catalogue is the broadest part of the business and is not limited to Golfstream's own machines. It covers components for PowaKaddy, Hill Billy, Greenhill and Golf Glider trolleys as well as Golfstream models. The inventory is grouped by component type:

  • Clutches and controllers, with dedicated sections for PowaKaddy, Hill Billy, Golfstream, Greenhill and Golf Glider.
  • Frame parts for PowaKaddy, Hill Billy, Golfstream and Greenhill, plus universal trolley fixings, nuts, bolts, washers, rivets and sundries.
  • Handle cables and controller leads.
  • Motors and gearboxes, including motor brushes and motor couplings.
  • Remote control parts and straps.
  • Switches and encoders in Greenhill, Golfstream, Hill Billy, PowaKaddy and other types.
  • Wheels for PowaKaddy, Golfstream, Greenhill and Hill Billy, including winter wheels, bearings and wheel sundries.

Golfstream states that most of these are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts sold at a significant discount. It offers telephone and email help with parts, publishes fitting instructions and videos in a downloads section, and invites customers who cannot fit a part themselves to get in touch so it can put them in contact with someone who can. For parts that are not listed, it asks for an email, preferably with a digital photograph, so it can try to identify the component.

Buying, stockists and after-sales

The site operates as an online shop with basket and checkout, priced in pounds sterling, and includes delivery information, a frequently asked questions section and a guarantee form. It maintains directories of trolley stockists and spares stockists, and lists repair agents. It also publishes a trolley brochure and instructions, press coverage, customer testimonials for both trolleys and spares, and a "Me & My Golfstream" section. Reviews are aggregated through Trustpilot.
