Kelvin Compost

Kelvin Compost: peat-free compost and soil products from South Lanarkshire

Kelvin Compost Ltd operates as the trading arm of ASAP (After School Activities Programme, SC037399), a Scottish charity. The company states that all profits go towards promoting local recreational undertakings. Its base is in South Lanarkshire, and it supplies organic compost and soil products across Glasgow and Scotland.

The product range is aimed at allotment holders, schools, community gardens, landscapers, farms and home growers. Orders can be placed online or by telephone, and the company offers depot collection as an alternative to delivery.

Certified compost matured at Chapelton

The compost is described as peat-free and chemical-free, produced to the BSI PAS 100 compost quality standard. Organic materials are matured on farmland at Chapelton, South Lanarkshire, without synthetic chemicals or harmful additives, and the result is presented as suited to West of Scotland soils and Scottish growing conditions.

According to the company, the compost is rich in organic matter, improves soil structure, enhances moisture retention and releases nutrients slowly to support long-term plant health. Allotments and community gardens across Glasgow are cited as regular users for raised beds, orchard mulching and soil improvement.

Bulk bags or tonne loads

Kelvin Compost presents two order formats. Bulk bags are recommended for home gardens, raised beds and smaller allotment plots. Loose loads of 10 or 20 tonnes are intended for farms, large allotment sites, schools and landscaping projects. For larger loads, the company offers HIAB delivery, which it describes as useful where site access is tight, and states that the load is tipped where the customer asks, usually within a week.

Delivery covers Glasgow, East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire and, by arrangement, the wider Central Belt. Local delivery in East Kilbride and surrounding areas is priced at £15. Depot collection is also available.

Community and charity link

The company frames its activity around transforming organic waste into compost, reducing landfill waste and encouraging sustainable habits among individuals, families and organisations. As part of ASAP, it links its commercial activity to local community and youth development projects.
