Thermatek Heating

Thermatek Heating: heating, plumbing and low-carbon systems in Edinburgh

Thermatek Heating is an Edinburgh-based company working on heating, plumbing and renewable-energy systems for homes and businesses across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Its engineers cover both traditional and low-carbon installations, ranging from plumbing repairs, boiler servicing and central-heating upgrades to air source heat pumps and air-to-air heating and cooling systems. The company states that its team brings over 40 years of combined experience.

The firm presents its approach as diagnosis first: assessing the existing installation and explaining the practical differences between options, including installation requirements, performance estimates, controls and fuel-cost considerations, rather than defaulting to a like-for-like replacement.

Boilers: replacement, servicing and repair

Boiler work is a core part of the offer. Thermatek installs and replaces boilers sized around a property's heating and hot-water needs, with equipment from manufacturers and smart controls. It also carries out boiler servicing and maintains a boiler service plan, and handles diagnosis and repair of boiler and central-heating faults, including pumps, valves and control problems. Boiler repairs are described as available same day, subject to availability, and the company markets an emergency response line for heating or plumbing problems.

Heat pumps and air conditioning

For low-carbon heating, the company designs and installs air source heat pumps, a process it describes as including room-by-room heat-loss calculations, system design, radiator assessment and installation. It also fits air-to-air heat-pump systems that provide cooling in summer and heating year-round, aimed at bedrooms, living spaces, garden rooms and home offices. Alongside these, the site lists solar thermal systems and power flushing.

Plumbing and landlord compliance

The plumbing side covers general repairs and installations; customer accounts on the site describe work such as removing a gas hob ahead of a kitchen refit, reconnecting a washing machine, fitting a sink and replacing a damaged gas meter cover. For landlords, Thermatek provides landlord gas safety certificates.

Diagnosing common heating problems

The company frames its service around specific faults it is asked to solve: loss of heating or hot water, boilers becoming unreliable, homes that are expensive to heat, overheating bedrooms or home offices, radiators that fail to heat properly, and repeated boiler pressure loss. In the last case it states that it looks for the underlying cause, whether inside the boiler or heat pump or elsewhere in the system, rather than repeatedly treating the symptom, and offers a fuel-cost comparison for customers weighing a move away from fossil fuels.

Coverage and customer feedback

Thermatek states that it covers all of Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian. At the time the site was scanned it displayed a Google rating of "Excellent" based on 101 reviews, with individual accounts describing annual boiler servicing, emergency leak repairs, heating and plumbing inspections after a property purchase, and a boiler relocation into an attic alongside underfloor heating.
