Canopies UK

Canopies UK: bespoke outdoor canopy design and installation since 1990

Canopies UK is a British manufacturer and installer of outdoor canopies, operating since 1990. The company states it has completed thousands of installations across schools, hospitals, hotels, offices and warehouses nationwide. Its core proposition is a fully in-house service: every canopy is designed and manufactured to the exact dimensions of the site, and installation is carried out by the company's own team, with no subcontractors involved. The company describes itself as the nation's number one canopy provider for products and services.

Product range

The catalogue covers a broad set of canopy types for commercial and domestic use. The flagship product is the Connekt, a cantilever canopy with no front support posts that keeps the covered area fully open; according to the company, it accounts for the majority of its commercial installations. Other systems include the Cantabria retractable roof system, aimed at hospitality settings where flexible cover is required. The full range spans covered walkways, entrance canopies, outdoor dining canopies, playground shelters, loading bay covers, car park canopies, staff shelters, sport spectator shelters, GRP door canopies, outdoor classrooms, parent waiting shelters and smoking shelters. For homeowners, the Home & Garden line includes carports, patio canopies, glass verandas and door canopies in hipped, lean-to, flat and apex styles.

Sector experience

The company organises its offer around the sectors it serves. In education, it supplies dining canopies, walkways, outdoor classrooms and play shelters for schools, colleges and academies, and it also provides a school grants finder and guidance on funding. In healthcare, it provides covered walkways, entrance canopies and car park shelters for hospitals and care facilities. For hospitality, it offers outdoor dining canopies, entrance canopies, covered walkways and smoking shelters, with the Cantabria system positioned for pubs, restaurants and hotels. Contract caterers can add outdoor dining capacity for multiple sites or large-volume venues. Factory and warehousing clients use loading bay canopies, entrance shelters and car park covers. Offices, sporting venues, house builders and regeneration projects are also listed as sectors served, with spectator shelters that can be colour-matched to team colours.

Manufacturing and accreditation

All canopies are manufactured in-house to site-specific structural calculations, taking into account snow and wind loads, ground conditions and proximity to buildings. The company states there are no standard sizes and that a site survey is required to price a project. It holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, is CHAS registered and Constructionline approved, and is an ISBL partner. Its Connekt canopy systems and door canopies are registered as Made in Britain products, manufactured in the UK. The company says its structures are calculated in line with British and European standards and are suitable for permanent outdoor use year-round.

Installation and project management

The standard commercial service covers survey, design, manufacture, supply and installation, all managed by the company's own team. Supply-only is not typically offered for commercial projects, because installation by the same team is presented as part of the quality guarantee. The company positions itself on quality and longevity rather than price, and notes that a free site survey is the starting point for a quote. It also indicates that many installations fall within permitted development rights, although planning requirements depend on the structure type, size, boundary proximity and listed-building status.
