Ward Brothers Furniture & Flooring Store

Ward Brothers, a century-old furniture and flooring retailer in Doncaster

Ward Brothers is a family-run furniture and flooring store based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Established in 1919, the business describes itself as having been at the heart of Yorkshire homes for over a century and presents itself as a specialist in designer living, dining and bedroom furniture. Its catalogue combines upholstered furniture, dining sets, bedroom pieces and floor coverings, with an emphasis on British design and premium brands.

Living room furniture: sofas, chairs and occasional tables

The living room range is the broadest part of the offer. It includes sofas in two-seater, three- and four-seater and corner configurations, available in fabric and leather, as well as recliner sofas and sofa beds. The seating selection extends to armchairs, occasional chairs, recliner chairs, snuggler chairs and footstools. For the rest of the living space, the store lists coffee tables, console tables, lamp tables, nests of tables and TV and audio units.

Dining room and bedroom collections

In dining, Ward Brothers stocks complete dining ranges, dining tables in compact, extending and round formats, and dining seating that includes bar stools, dining benches and dining chairs. Storage for the dining room covers bookcases, display cabinets and sideboards. The bedroom department is organised by bed size and type: single, small double, double, king size and super king beds, alongside adjustable beds, divan beds, headboards, sofa beds, upholstered and wooden bed frames. Mattresses are grouped by size and by construction, with memory foam and pocket sprung options, and the range is completed by pillows, bedroom stools, bedside chests, chest of drawers, dressing tables and wardrobes.

Flooring, carpets and rugs

The flooring side of the business includes hard flooring, carpets and rugs. Carpets are presented under several specialist manufacturers, among them Brintons, Brockway, Cavalier, Ulster and Westex. Rugs are grouped into modern, shaggy and traditional styles.

Brands and designer furniture

Ward Brothers positions itself as a stockist of designer furniture brands. The brand list shown on the site includes Parker Knoll, Stressless, Ercol, Duresta, Venjakob, Himolla, Hypnos, G Plan, Somnus, Tempur, Vispring and Willis & Gambier, with additional names such as Healthbeds and Relyon appearing in the bedroom section. The store also highlights a commitment to British design and heritage.

Services and customer approach

Beyond the product catalogue, the company advertises a price promise across its furniture collection and an in-house delivery, assembly and fitting team, described as a specialist service. Customer testimonials published on the site refer to the delivery team using protective covers and making a courtesy call before arrival, and to staff providing advice during the buying process. The site also states that the business has received hundreds of five-star reviews, without specifying the review platform.
