About Oh My Dogs Dog Training

Positive reinforcement dog training in High Peak, Stockport and Cheshire

Oh My Dogs Dog Training is a dog training business operating in High Peak, Stockport and Cheshire. It describes its approach as positive reinforcement and force-free training for all breeds, ages and abilities. The service is led by owner and head trainer Sophie Titchen, who is an accredited PACT trainer and is registered on the ABTC ATI register, meaning her training follows the codes of practice of those bodies.

Training methods and philosophy

The business states that it trains outside in the real world, with the distractions of the environment, rather than in a barn, village hall or other indoor venue. Its stated rationale is that training only becomes worthwhile when it can be applied to the distractions of daily life. Sessions are presented as fun and exciting, with the aim of building the bond and trust between owner and dog while teaching manners and obedience skills.

Services offered

  • Perfect Puppy — The Basics course: aimed at puppies between 2 and 6 months old. It covers life skills, general manners, basic cues and other issues that arise. The service can be completed during the Perfect Puppy course or through five 1-2-1 sessions, either at the client's home or out and about.
  • 1-2-1 sessions: training tailored to the specific needs and goals of each owner and dog. The business highlights recall, lead walking, reactivity and breed-specific outlets as examples of areas that can be addressed.
  • Walk & Train: a service that combines an hour's walk with tailored training, presented as an option for people with busy lifestyles who cannot implement training every day.

The business also mentions dog walking among the services for which enquiries are accepted.

About the trainer

Sophie Titchen became involved in training through her Labrador, Daphne, who is five years old. She spent a year shadowing her trainer while studying for her PACT Canine Training Instructor course and then began teaching on her own. Before that she studied Animal Care and an extended Animal Management course at college. She is currently studying a Canine Behaviour course to deepen her understanding of the reasons behind the behaviours she encounters.

She works her dogs on a small friendly pheasant shoot, and Daphne has involved her in Gundog training since 2021. She also has Maggie, a fox red Labrador youngster described as the latest team member. Gundog breeds are described as her passion, although the business states that it aims to give every dog and owner, regardless of age or breed, the best chance at success. She sometimes has a foster dog on her team, assessing and training dogs that are going up for adoption. She volunteers for Spaniel Aid and Labradors in Need, carrying out home checks, transport and dog assessments.

How sessions are structured

The business lists step-by-step guidance, realistic homework and recommended equipment as part of its offer. It also states that it aims to respond to enquiries within two working days.

Client feedback

The site includes a testimonial from a client, Ben, who describes how a couple of 1-2-1 sessions with Sophie helped him build trust with his family dog, Boo, and gain confidence in his handling.
