GED Outlet

GED Outlet: refurbished home and garden goods from a family-run UK retailer

GED Outlet is a British online shop specialising in refurbished, used and used-like-new household and outdoor equipment. The company describes itself as a family-owned business that has been trading for more than fifty years and states that it has built its reputation on offering refurbished and new items at low prices. Its catalogue is organised around product families rather than a single line, so the range runs from vacuum cleaners and lawnmowers to radios, camping gear and video-game accessories.

Floorcare and cleaning equipment

Vacuum and steam cleaners form one of the most visible sections of the catalogue. The store lists cylinder, upright and handheld vacuum cleaners, carpet washing machines and steam cleaners, with models from Vax and Bush among those shown. Examples in the catalogue at the time of writing include a used Bush bagless cylinder vacuum, a used-like-new Vax Air Stretch Max Pet upright and a refurbished Vax Steam Fresh Combi Classic steam mop. Items are labelled according to their condition, distinguishing used products from refurbished ones and from those described as used like new.

Garden and power tools

The garden and power tools section covers lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, strimmers, chainsaws, drills and screwdrivers, pressure washers, garden vacs and blowers, rakers and scarifiers, shredders, and batteries and chargers. Spear & Jackson and McGregor appear among the lawnmower brands listed, alongside corded and cordless rotary models. The catalogue also groups a separate range of home and garden furniture, lighting, storage units, tables and chairs, and pet supplies.

Audio, heating and seasonal products

Under hi-fi and audio, GED Outlet lists DAB digital radios, alarm clocks, CD and cassette players, headphones, micro hi-fi systems, MP3 players and docking stations, speakers and soundbars. A heating and air treatment section brings together convector heaters, fan heaters, oil-filled radiators, dehumidifiers, humidifiers and electric blankets. The store also carries Christmas trees, lights and decorations, home cinema and television equipment, and video games with controllers, accessories and gaming chairs.

Travel, camping and toys

Travel and outdoor living includes barbecues, camping accessories, car accessories, fireplaces and chimineas, luggage and bags, and tents. Camping items shown in the catalogue range from air beds and sleeping bags to folding camping beds and vacuum flasks. The toys and games section covers action figures, dolls and playsets, hoverboards, outdoor toys, and role-play toys, cars, trains and planes, while a separate area lists video-game controllers and accessories.

Brands and condition labelling

The shop groups part of its stock into brand ranges, including VAX, Spear & Jackson, Home & Habitat, Milwaukee, Ryobi and Polti. Condition labels are part of how the catalogue is presented: products appear as used, refurbished or used like new, and some listings show a reduced sale price against a regular price.

Track record cited by the company

GED Outlet states that it has over fifty years of experience and cites a 99.4% positive feedback score and more than 600,000 orders on eBay. It also publishes a figure of 6,800 orders placed with the outlet and displays customer comments about delivery, packaging and product condition. These figures and comments are presented as the company's own account of its trading history.

Delivery and payment

The site advertises free UK delivery on all orders for a limited period, with Northern Ireland excluded, and free returns. It also indicates that payments can be made with Klarna.
