About Nettletons Jewellers

Nettletons Jewellers, a family jewellery business in Clitheroe

Nettletons Jewellers is a family-run jewellery shop on Castle Street in Clitheroe, Lancashire. The business was founded in November 1978 by Eric Nettleton, who had entered the jewellery trade in 1948, just after the Second World War. It is now run by his son Matthew Nettleton, who has been part of the business since it began. The company describes its accumulated jewellery knowledge and expertise as spanning more than 125 years.

Engagement rings and a ring-building service

A central part of the offer is engagement rings, organised by stone shape, style and metal. The catalogue groups rings by cut or shape — round brilliant, princess, emerald, oval, pear, cushion and baguette — and by style, including solitaire, trilogy and halo. Metals listed include platinum, white gold, yellow gold and rose gold, and the stones may be natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds or coloured gemstones.

Alongside the ready-made collection, the shop runs a personalised ring builder that lets a customer design a ring from start to finish by choosing the style, stone shape, metal and stone quality. A separate custom ring design service covers the same ground for customers who want a piece made to their own specification.

Wedding bands for women and men

The wedding ring range is divided into women's and men's rings, with plain bands and diamond-set designs. Buyers can choose between metals that include 9ct and 18ct gold, platinum, palladium and titanium. The shop also presents wedding and anniversary rings as a distinct section of its catalogue.

Lab-grown diamonds

Nettletons devotes a specific section to lab-grown diamonds, which it describes as created through technology that replicates the natural diamond-growing process and as chemically, physically and optically identical to natural stones. Rings set with these stones appear among the featured products, with examples in platinum and 18ct yellow gold and centre stones ranging from about 1.15ct to 2.36ct in the pieces shown at the time of writing.

Watches, clocks and pre-owned pieces

The watch side of the business covers men's and ladies' watches, pocket watches, pre-owned watches and watch winders. Brands named in the catalogue include BOSS Watches, Bulova, Citizen, Frederique Constant, Herbelin, Olivia Burton and Raymond Weil, alongside Comitti Clocks. The shop also advertises a 10% reduction on Citizen timepieces, including Eco-Drive and automatic models for men and women.

A pre-owned section brings together second-hand jewellery and watches, presented as pieces with character and craftsmanship offered at lower prices than new stock, and the shop notes that availability of these items is limited.

Workshop services for jewellery, watches and clocks

Repairs and restoration are handled through workshop services covering jewellery, watches and clocks. On the jewellery side the shop lists ear piercing, alterations, bespoke design, cleaning, engraving, repair, ring remounts, ring resizing, re-threading and valuation, plus a ring size guide. For watches it offers batteries, repairs, servicing, restoration, straps, glass replacement, polishing and valuation; clock repairs and clock restoration are listed separately.

Ear piercing is described as a recent addition, carried out by a trained team for lobe and cartilage piercings, with prices starting at £40 including aftercare solution and appointments bookable in advance.

Brands, stock and shopping options

The shop states that it stocks 32 brands and holds more than 250 rings. Beyond its own Nettletons line, the brand list includes Allied Gold, Amore Gold, Amore Silver, Ania Haie, Beginnings, BOSS Jewellery, Charles Green, Chimento, Connoisseurs, Curteis, D for Diamond, Elements Gold, Gemex, Georgini, GETi, House Of Lor, Jools by Jenny Brown, Laurel Jewellery, Lucy Quartermaine, Lydia's Bees, Olivia Burton Jewellery, Pearls, Saturno Animals, Sheila Fleet Jewellery, Tivon Fine Jewellery and WOLF. Jewellery is grouped by type — bracelets, earrings, rings, necklaces and pendants, brooches and cufflinks — with sections for new-in pieces and sale items.

Orders can be delivered free within the UK on qualifying purchases, and click and collect is available. The shop also takes appointments for store visits.
