A. Roberts & Son Garden and Property Maintenance

A. Roberts & Son, landscape gardening in Chipping Norton

A. Roberts & Son Garden and Property Maintenance is a small family business based in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, working on gardens and grounds across the county. The company presents itself as a husband-and-wife operation: Asa, a professional gardener and the business owner, handles quotations, carries out the work and oversees projects, while Violet manages administration and customer service. The firm states that it carries full public liability insurance and a waste carriers licence, and that it removes and disposes of garden and building waste.

One of its stated distinguishing points is that it does not operate seasonally. The business says it works all year round, including responding to storm damage such as fallen trees and broken fences in winter, alongside routine garden tidy-ups.

Garden design and grounds maintenance

For design work, the company visits the garden, takes the layout into account and proposes a scheme, stating that it tells clients plainly what it believes will work and what will not. On the maintenance side, it covers both one-off general tidy-ups for residential customers and monthly ongoing garden maintenance, and says it cleans up after each job and disposes of garden waste correctly. Commercial grounds maintenance appears among the service options listed on its contact form.

Hedges, lawns and trees

• Hedge trimming: the business says it works with any hedge, cutting it back and reshaping it, and that hedge height or size is not a constraint given its equipment.
• Grass cutting: lawns of all sizes, using strimmers, push mowers and ride-on mowers depending on the job.
• Tree work: felling of dead trees, pruning and shaping, removal of old stumps and general seasonal tree maintenance.
• Planting advice: guidance on which plants and trees suit a given garden.

Hard landscaping, water and lawns

The company reports experience in building patios, pergolas and garden ponds, and advises on such projects after carrying out a survey. Its listed specialities also include turfing and lawn care, decking and fencing, and water features and koi ponds. Hard landscaping is offered as an alternative or complement to planting work.

How the business presents itself

The company describes itself as driven by a personal interest in design and in making and creating gardens, and frames its growth around its clients. It states that it works on the principle of full customer satisfaction. The website reproduces several short customer comments, including one describing a job completed at short notice after a recommendation and another referring to punctuality, the agreed price and a written invoice; the site directs readers to its Facebook page for further reviews. These are individual testimonials rather than an aggregate rating.
