Wheelie Bins

Wheelie Bins, a Cotswolds-based supplier of bins for homes, trade and the public sector

Wheelie Bins (wheeliebins.co.uk) is an online retailer of wheelie bins and related waste containers operating from the Cotswolds. The company was founded in 2011 as a branch of Jaydee Living Ltd, a supplier of bins to the UK and international markets, and states that it holds more than 20 years of experience supplying and manufacturing bins to domestic, trade and public sector customers. Its range is aimed at households, businesses of all sizes, single and multi-unit housing properties, schools, government entities and entertainment venues that use kerbside collection services.

Bin sizes from 50 to 1280 litres

The catalogue is organised primarily by capacity. The smallest models listed are 50 and 80 litres, followed by 120, 140, 180, 240, 360, 500, 660, 770, 1100 and 1280 litres. The company describes the 240-litre bin as the standard council size and the most popular household option, available in 14 colours, while the 140-litre model is presented as another widely used household size. The 360-litre unit is described as the largest household wheelie bin available in the UK. For commercial use, the range includes the four-wheeled 660-litre bin, the 1100-litre model aimed at large businesses, offices, warehouses and multi-tenanted buildings, and a 1280-litre metal bin, which the company identifies as the largest commercial wheelie bin it offers.

Prices shown on the site at the time of writing start at £21.43 for the 120-litre bin, £25.65 for the 140-litre, £30.63 for the 240-litre, £53.63 for the 360-litre, £119.45 for the 660-litre and £144.45 for the 1100-litre model, before VAT.

Colours and specialised configurations

Beyond standard bins, the range covers a broad colour selection: black, grey, green, blue, red, yellow, brown, purple, orange, pink, white and moss green, plus bins with differently coloured lids. The company also lists modified versions for specific waste streams and settings, including confidential waste bins, bins with paper hoods, bins with slot apertures, paper recycling bins, bottle and glass recycling bins and bottle bins. Complementary products include dustbins, wheelie bin parts, wheelie bin liners and kitchen caddies, as well as indoor 120-litre bottle bins and 110-litre dustbins.

Manufacturing, quality and public sector supply

According to the company, its wheelie bins are manufactured in facilities in Germany and France and subjected to testing to meet performance requirements. It states that its bins are supplied to a large number of UK councils and argues that, although cheaper Chinese-manufactured bins exist, their quality is inferior. The company presents its own products as good value without compromising on quality and describes them as environmentally friendly wherever possible.

Purchasing terms and customer service

Wheelie Bins offers quantity discounts on multibuy purchases and purchase order arrangements for businesses. It also provides pre-approved credit and 30-day credit terms for public sector organisations, including educational institutions, government bodies and the NHS. The company guarantees to beat a lower price found for the same bin, accepts returns within 14 days at the buyer's cost (excluding made-to-order items) and processes orders placed up until 3pm each day. It states that emails are answered within one hour and offers live chat for instant replies. Enquiries are welcomed from domestic, trade and public sector customers, and a wheelie bin size checker is available to help identify the right model for a given area.
