Clever Shield

Clever Shield, a UK distributor of waterproofing and protective coating systems

Clever Shield operates as an approved UK distributor of waterproofing and protective coating products, working with a catalogue built around brands such as Wykamol, Newton, Mapei, Desmopol and Tecnopol, alongside a long list of other manufacturers. The company presents itself as a supplier for both professionals and DIY buyers, with next-day working delivery and pallet rates aimed at larger projects.

The range is organised into five main areas: liquid coatings, basement waterproofing, insulation, construction and repair, and industrial solutions. Each area groups products by function, from roof and balcony coatings to cavity drain membranes, pumps and structural repair materials.

Certified structural waterproofing to BS 8102:2022

One of the central parts of the catalogue is structural waterproofing. Clever Shield stocks materials certified to meet BS 8102:2022 across Types A, B and C, covering tanking-cementitious systems, cavity drain membranes and integral waterproofing. The Wykamol and Newton CDM System is presented as a comprehensive solution combining cavity drain membranes, drainage, pumps and control systems for basements, foundations and underground structures.

The basement section also includes anti-condensation and anti-mould products, damp proof courses, gas barriers, drainage channels, membrane fixings and kits, mortars and plaster, root barriers, reinforcement tapes, swellable mastic and ventilators.

Liquid coatings for roofs, balconies and industrial surfaces

The liquid coatings range covers BBA-certified waterproof paints and coatings for roofs, balconies, walkways, walls and flooring. Products are grouped by chemistry and application, including acrylic, bituminous, epoxy, polyurethane, polyaspartic, polyurea, silicone, MS polymer and MMA/PUMA systems, plus primers, top coats, vapour barriers and roof kits in both EPDM and liquid formats.

Specific products highlighted in the catalogue include Purtop Easy, described as a BBA-approved polyurethane waterproofing system for flat roofs, balconies and terraces with a certified 25-year service life, and Mapei MAPELASTIC ZERO, a flexible two-component cementitious mortar for balconies and terraces that is UV and frost resistant, flexible down to -20°C and formulated with low VOCs. Mapei Elastocolor is also listed as a flexible coating for interior and exterior walls.

Industrial coatings are aimed at protecting, waterproofing and repairing concrete, steel and timber, including applications underwater. The industrial section extends to anaerobic digester coatings and insulation, cold welding, tank maintenance and base sealing, rail infrastructure, pipe repair kits and Sylmasta metal repair systems based on two-pack solvent-free epoxy technology.

Insulation, construction and repair lines

In insulation, the catalogue lists anti-condensation and energy-saving coatings, external wall insulation, foam, floor and pipe insulation, vapour control layers and ETICS/EWI systems. Wykamol ISO-THERM is presented as an ultra-thin, vapour-permeable internal wall liner of approximately 4 mm designed to improve insulation and address condensation, mould and cold internal surfaces without reducing room space.

The construction and repair area covers cementitious products such as additives, concrete hardeners, joint sealing, repair mortars, sealers, grouts and anchors, leak sealing, screeds, structural strengthening and tanking slurry. It also includes adhesives, chemical anchors, expanding foam, roof and gutter sealants, tiling products, timber treatment, wall ties and reinforcement.

Pumps, pallet rates and purchasing

Clever Shield lists complete pump systems starting from £499 including VAT, comprising a submersible pump, sump chamber and high-level alarm for basement drainage and flood prevention. The site also promotes pallet rates on mortars and plasters for large-scale projects, with bulk pricing on products from Wykamol, Mapei and other brands.

The company invites buyers to subscribe to email-only offers covering exclusive discounts, pallet promotions and trade-only deals. Orders are presented with next-day working delivery, and the site states that expert support is available alongside the product range.
