About Bakesdown Farm Camping
Eco camping on a rewilded farm near Widemouth Bay
Bakesdown Farm Camping operates on 30 acres of rewilded farmland in Marhamchurch, near Bude in Cornwall, less than four miles from Widemouth Bay. The site presents itself as a nearly wild camping experience built around privacy and wildlife rather than conventional pitches.
The land has been managed under rewilding principles for almost 20 years. Small fields enclosed by wide hedges are described as a haven for wildlife and as a way of giving each pitch its own sense of seclusion.
Three exclusive pitches
The campsite offers three named pitches, each occupying its own field:
- Speckled wood
- Brimstone
- Gatekeeper
Each pitch is presented as unique and includes a fire pit and private off-grid facilities. The names correspond to butterfly species, in keeping with the site's wildlife-focused setting among tufted grasses, hedges and bramble patches.
Booking and practical information
The website provides a booking function and a separate area for managing an existing booking. It also publishes terms and conditions and a privacy policy, and offers a contact form for enquiries. A 'Bakesdown Story Book' is available to read online, covering the background of the farm.
Location
The site is at Lower Bakesdown Farm, Marhamchurch, Bude, Cornwall. Its proximity to Widemouth Bay places it in the coastal hinterland of north Cornwall, while the farm itself is laid out as a quiet, hedgerow-bound rural site.
