Just Wood

Just Wood: hardwood flooring specialists in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire

Just Wood is a family-run wood flooring company founded in June 1993 by Alastair Smyth, Gary Greene and Malcolm Greene. From its base in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, it supplies and installs hardwood flooring for domestic and commercial clients across Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, and describes itself as one of the leading hardwood flooring companies in that area. The company presents itself as award-winning and states that it has more than 30 years of experience.

Installation of solid, engineered, parquet and laminate floors

The installation side of the business covers several distinct product types, each handled as a separate service:

• Solid and engineered hardwood flooring: premium floors in a range of species, finishes and sizes, including wide planks.
• Parquet flooring: geometric patterns such as herringbone and chevron, installed for both traditional and modern interiors.
• Laminate wood flooring: a cost-effective, scratch-resistant option presented as suitable for high-traffic areas in homes and businesses.

Alongside installation, the company offers floor staining and restaining, using what it describes as high-quality products to add colour and depth while protecting the surface.

Restoration, sanding and gap filling

A significant part of Just Wood's work is the renovation of existing floors. Its sanding and refinishing service removes imperfections, applies protective finishes and fills gaps to produce a seamless result, aimed at worn or damaged floors and at extending their lifespan. The company also advertises full restorations, repairs and custom wood finishes, and highlights bespoke work such as unique patterns, intricate inlays and made-to-measure designs.

Wood species in the catalogue

The product range is organised by timber type. The catalogue lists oak, walnut, ash, maple, beech, cherry, jarrah, merbau and jatoba, covering both familiar European hardwoods and more unusual imported species.

Projects and portfolio

The company's portfolio names several completed projects, including Waterfront, Smugglers Lane, The West Sussex Barn, Sussex Harbour View, Siddlesham and Roedean Heights. These references illustrate the type of residential and character properties the team works on, though the site does not give further detail on the scope of each job.

How the company presents itself

Just Wood describes itself as family-run and emphasises collaboration with clients, staff and contractors as the basis of its working method. It states that projects of any size are treated with the same attention to detail and that its team brings years of industry knowledge to each installation or restoration.
