About Mentor Match
Mentor Match: 1:1 Online Tutoring for International Curriculums
Mentor Match is an online tutoring service that delivers one-to-one instruction for students following IB, IGCSE, A-Level, American and CBSE programmes. The company states that its tutors are curriculum-trained and that sessions are scheduled around each family's timetable. It offers a free trial class and positions its method around identifying a student's specific foundational gaps rather than reteaching entire topics.
The GPS Framework: Gap, Personalise, Score
The company's pedagogical approach is summarised in a three-step framework it calls GPS. The first step, Gap, uses an AI diagnostic to pinpoint the exact concept a student is stuck on. The second, Personalise, builds weekly 1:1 sessions around that gap and the student's actual school syllabus. The third, Score, involves invigilated mock tests and reports every month so that progress is tracked in data. Mentor Match states that this framework is built on Bloom's 2 Sigma research.
Curriculums and Subjects Covered
Tutoring is organised by curriculum and by subject. The company lists support for the following programmes:
- IB — from PYP to DP, with subject-matched tutors for HL/SL, Internal Assessments and Extended Essay support.
- British — Year 1 to 13, with IGCSE and A-Level coaching aligned to Edexcel, Cambridge and AQA.
- American — AP Tutoring.
- CBSE — Class 6 to 12, board-exam focused and mapped to the NCERT curriculum.
Subject-specific courses include Math Tutoring, Science Tutoring, ELA Tutoring, SAT Program, Public Speaking, Math Catch-Up and ERAYA (IBDP). The trial booking form also lists Biology, Physics, English, Chemistry, Coding, Arabic and Social Science as subjects.
Reported Outcomes and Scale
According to the company's own figures, 87% of students see their grades go up, more than 475,000 one-to-one sessions are delivered every year, and the average time to first improvement is four weeks. The site also displays individual student results, such as a Maths grade moving from 90% to 99% in Grade 6, an IB DP final grade rising from 32 to 38, and a Maths grade climbing from 4 to 6. These are presented as examples and have not been independently verified.
Tutor Selection and Matching
Mentor Match states that it selects just 1.3% of applicants from thousands, and that fewer than 1 in 10 applicants join. Every tutor reportedly passes subject assessments, a live teaching simulation and a two-week training programme before teaching. Students are assigned one dedicated tutor for all sessions, and the tutor from the trial class continues with the student. If a child is unhappy with the tutor, the company offers rematching at no cost; if dissatisfaction persists after three tutors, remaining unused sessions are refunded in full.
Practical Arrangements and Policies
Sessions are conducted online via an interactive platform. The FAQ states that each one-to-one session lasts 55 minutes, while another answer mentions 60 minutes; most students attend two to three sessions per week per subject. Rescheduling is possible with 24 hours' notice, and emergencies are handled within two hours. Each family is assigned a dedicated account manager for daily support and exam scheduling. Unused sessions are refunded within 48 hours. Pricing is stated as between AED 70 and AED 100 per hour. There are no fixed contracts or long-term commitments, and monthly progress reports and optional parent-teacher meetings are provided.
Schools and Locations Served
The company says it is trusted by parents from schools including JESS Dubai, NLCS Dubai, DIA Emirates Hills, GEMS Wellington, Sunmarke School, Repton Dubai, BSAK Abu Dhabi, Kings' School Dubai and SISD Dubai. It offers online tutoring across the UAE, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, and also refers to Qatar international schools. Mentor Match lists three offices: one in Dubai, one in San Francisco and one in Chennai.
Founders and Origin
Mentor Match was founded by Sachit and Rohit, who have spent six years in education. Their first product, a doubt-solving chatbot launched in 2021 during their final year of university, reached 50,000 students a day and ranked in the top 100 apps on the Play Store. The company describes this experience as teaching them that only a teacher can give a child belief, which led them to build the tutoring service.
