Trogir looks compact on a map, but choosing where to sleep changes the way you experience it. The historic centre occupies a small island linked by bridges to the mainland and Čiovo. Inside the protected streets, lanes and squares are right outside the door; across on Čiovo, hotels offer more room for cars, views over the water and facilities for resting between excursions.
Heritage Hotel Pašike is on Sinjska ulica inside the Old Town. The family-run house brings together 12 rooms and an apartment, period furnishings, a Dalmatian restaurant and breakfast. From the entrance, St Lawrence Cathedral, Radovan’s portal and Kamerlengo Fortress are only minutes away. The historic building adds character, although recent reviews are not unanimous about maintenance and mattresses; ask about the room category rather than choosing from photos alone.
Hotel Trogir Palace is on Put Gradine on Čiovo, about 200 metres from the centre according to the hotel. Its 36 rooms and apartments, restaurant terrace, spa and private parking may be more convenient for drivers or guests travelling to and from Split Airport. Some rooms face the old town and sea, but guest comments say bathroom condition and breakfast can vary. Confirm the outlook, included facilities and restaurant hours.
The UNESCO-protected town retains a Hellenistic street grid, Romanesque buildings and Renaissance and Baroque palaces. Construction of the cathedral began around 1200, and it anchors the main square; from there, continue through the lanes to the waterfront and Venetian fortress. The walk is short, but stone paving and summer crowds make sturdy shoes and an early start useful. By car, confirm hotel access and parking rules: the historic core is not a conventional street for unloading luggage.
Pašike suits visitors who want to wake inside the heritage district and walk without crossing bridges; Palace is better for combining the centre with parking, a spa, balcony rooms and trips around Čiovo. The difference is not only price: it is a choice between centring the trip on the medieval town or using Trogir as a base for beaches and transfers. Before booking, check room type, arrival time and the actual parking arrangements.
Hotel Trogir Palace is easier for drivers and offers a spa and open views; Pašike puts the medieval streets at your door. Choose according to mobility, parking and how immersed you want to be in the Old Town.
