Renaissance Shoals: use the current name
Renaissance Shoals Resort & Spa is the property formerly known as Marriott Shoals. The rebranding and renovation were reported in 2025, so old travel pages can still point to the same hotel under a former name. For a 2026 reservation, use the current Marriott page, Hightower Place address and direct hotel contact rather than assume a second resort has appeared.
The hotel's published offerings include indoor and outdoor pools, fitness, spa and on-site dining. The nearby River Heritage Park is public and supplies a ground-level river outlook, while 360 Grille offers a separate dinner reservation above it. A treatment, golf outing or particular restaurant meal should be checked as its own service. This base suits a traveler who wants time at the property as well as excursions into Florence and the other Shoals communities.
GunRunner: choose the actual suite
GunRunner Hotel & Bar has ten individually themed suites downtown. Their references to Shoals music, fashion and art give the property character, but the practical distinctions matter just as much. Seven have balconies; bathrooms and access features vary. A balcony or steam shower belongs to a named category and should not be inferred from a photograph of another room.
The hotel uses keyless codes and describes a low-interruption hospitality model, with staff on site during published hours. Make sure arrival instructions are received and understood before reaching the door. The shared lounge and bar add an interior setting, while restaurants and shops around the central streets are within reach on foot. It is strongest for privacy and character, not for the broad recreation facilities of a resort.
The Stricklin: a North Court Street base
The Stricklin's 24 rooms have king beds and modern conveniences such as keyless entry, a coffee maker and mini-fridge. Deluxe rooms have particular views through restored original windows toward downtown and Wilson Park. Travelers seeking that outlook should compare categories instead of treating all rooms as equivalent.
The hotel lists daytime room-service ordering from Big Bad Breakfast. That is useful but does not establish breakfast inclusion in every rate. Read the booking terms and ask about parking or mobility requirements. Stricklin and GunRunner make central evenings straightforward; Renaissance makes resort facilities and the river central. In all three cases, a focused architectural visit at the Rosenbaum House or an outing beyond town needs its own route.
