Maskay guide

Where can you eat with children in Anaheim without relying on Disneyland restaurants?

Two family dining formats near Disneyland: a food hall with choices for different tastes and a character buffet that turns the meal into an activity.

After hours of queues, characters and rides, a family often needs something more practical than another themed restaurant: a table where everyone can find a dish and a bill that does not come as a surprise. Anaheim offers two plans with very different rhythms. Anaheim Packing House brings independent food counters together in a historic building, while Goofy’s Kitchen offers a breakfast, brunch or dinner buffet with character visits. The difference is as much about atmosphere as budget.

About two miles from Disneyland, the Packing House works as a food hall, not a buffet: each person buys from a different counter and the group shares the seating. Choices range from ramen and Indian-inspired food to tacos, sandwiches and Mediterranean dishes, so children with familiar tastes and adults looking for something new can eat together. It is the more flexible option for controlling spending, although peak periods bring noise, competition for seats and some difficulty finding parking.

Goofy’s Kitchen changes the equation. Inside the Disneyland Hotel, the meal includes an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet and character encounters; breakfast adds Mickey-shaped waffles and omelettes, while dinner offers salads and hot dishes. Families describe the interactions as the main memory, but some visitors feel the cost is more than the food alone would justify. It is better suited to a celebration or a Disney moment without buying park admission than to an everyday low-budget meal.

Choose the Packing House if variety, spending flexibility and a stop outside the parks matter most; book Goofy’s Kitchen if meeting characters matters as much as the menu and the group is comfortable paying for that experience. The former is at 440 S Anaheim Blvd, and its vendors set their own hours; the latter is at 1150 W Magic Way and recommends advance reservations. Check the hours and conditions for your date before setting out, especially with young children or a large group.
