A walk on Dubrovnik’s walls leaves a visitor between two ideas of the city. From above, stone encloses lanes and tiled roofs; to the east, the Old Port recalls that historic Ragusa was also a maritime trading city. Once down, lunch need not be settled by the first menu in sight. Two restaurants inside the walls tell different culinary stories: one works with fish beside the water, while the other brings Bosnian food a few steps from Stradun.
Plan the descent before choosing a table
The main entrance to the wall route is by the Inner Pile Gate, according to the tourism office. The heritage organisation that runs the monument requires visitors to retain their ticket during the visit. Before leaving the route, note where you finish: the port side leads easily towards the seafood terrace, while the central lanes put the Bosnian restaurant close by. In hot weather, the exposed walk can be tiring; carry water and leave time for lunch. Check official opening hours and conditions for your date rather than building a meal around a closing time remembered from another month.
Continue the view at the harbour
Lokanda Peskarija stands at Na ponti bb, below the walls overlooking the Old Port and St John’s Fortress. Its seafood identity comes through Adriatic fish and shellfish, risotto and simple preparations in metal bowls; the menu also includes sushi. The terrace is part of the experience and can be sought after. The website announces seasonal opening and 11:00–23:00 hours: check whether it is operating when you travel. Some diners enjoy the view and seafood, while others find the relationship between bill and plate uneven. Read the menu and choose it for the food you actually want.
A Balkan turn inside the Old Town
Taj Mahal Old Town Dubrovnik, at 2 Nikole Gučetića, serves Bosnian cooking, not Indian food despite its name. The owners date the venture to 2004 and offer meat, vegetables and seasonings tied to family traditions. It is a coherent alternative if you have already eaten fish on this journey or would rather end the walk among the interior lanes. The business has another branch at Hotel Lero: use the Old Town address when checking reservations, hours and reviews. Customer accounts value the flavours and atmosphere but also mention waits and a bill that makes reading the menu worthwhile.
Dubrovnik does not force a choice between “eating by the walls” and “eating well”; it asks what eating well means on this particular day. To extend the sea view and sit beside the harbour, Lokanda continues the route. For Balkan cooking at a lane-side table, Taj Mahal shifts the focus without leaving the Old Town. In either case, check the hours of the exact branch and leave room after the wall walk to sit down without rushing.
Choose harbour seafood at Lokanda or Bosnian food at Taj Mahal; your wall exit and available time decide.

The name can mislead: Taj Mahal does not present itself as an Indian restaurant. Its cooking is Bosnian, and the original branch occupies a small address at 2 Nikole Gučetića, a short turn off Stradun.
