Maskay guide

Where can you shop at farmers markets in H Street NE, Columbia Heights and Cleveland Park?

Three FRESHFARM markets cover a year-round H Street Saturday, a seasonal Columbia Heights Wednesday and Cleveland Park through December.

A market for each kind of Washington morning

In Washington, D.C., farmers markets are woven into ordinary neighborhood routines. A Saturday visit can mean groceries and coffee on H Street NE, a Wednesday produce stop at Columbia Heights Civic Plaza, or a Saturday morning walk along Connecticut Avenue in Cleveland Park. All three belong to FRESHFARM’s network, but they are not interchangeable: one runs year-round, one has a seasonal Wednesday schedule, and one operates Saturdays into December. That calendar difference matters for a trip planned around a specific day.

FRESHFARM H Street NE meets on 13th Street NE between H and I, at 800 13th St NE. The organizer lists Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. year-round, including the 2026 winter calendar. Its vendor directory includes conventional and certified-organic fruits and vegetables, grass-fed meat, pastured eggs, sweet and savory baking, locally roasted coffee, pickles and krauts, sandwiches, flatbreads, flowers and plants. Chairs and tables make it a place to pause as well as shop. The exact mix varies; use the organizer’s current producer list rather than assuming every named vendor appears each week.

For a midweek stop, FRESHFARM Columbia Heights (Wednesday) uses the Civic Plaza at Park Road NW and 14th Street NW. The 2026 schedule runs Wednesdays, 3–7 p.m., May 6–Nov. 25. The market page identifies Mickley’s Orchard, Pleitez Produce Farm and RavenHook Bakehouse, with locally grown fruit and vegetables as its central offer. This plaza is also the location of FRESHFARM’s Saturday market, but that is a separate weekly session; the Wednesday closing time and vendor lineup should not be carried over to Saturday planning. The Wednesday market is also a Market Share pickup site.

FRESHFARM Cleveland Park offers another Saturday setting, at 3400 Connecticut Avenue NW. Its current calendar lists 9 a.m.–1 p.m. from April 4 through Dec. 19, 2026. FRESHFARM describes a neighborhood market with produce, meat and prepared foods and names Atwater’s, Bites of Beirut, Cold Country Salmon, Garner’s Produce, Kuhn Orchards, TOIMOI Bakery and Zeke’s Coffee among the participating producers. The range is useful for a shop that combines ingredients with a ready-to-eat bite, while the roster’s individual schedules mean the full list is not guaranteed each Saturday.

The three addresses sit along different transit corridors, so plan by destination rather than trying to join them in one short walk. WMATA’s official system map and trip planner cover Metrorail and bus connections; use the precise street address or intersection when choosing a route, then check service changes for the market date. H Street’s stop is on 13th Street NE, Columbia Heights uses a civic plaza at the 14th Street corridor, and Cleveland Park follows Connecticut Avenue NW. The market pages give the exact sites and schedules but do not advertise a common parking arrangement, so a driver should check local parking rules independently before leaving.

Food benefits are a practical part of the comparison. FRESHFARM says its markets accept SNAP/EBT, WIC and Senior FMNP checks; its FreshMatch program matches eligible federal benefits dollar for dollar at participating market purchases. The 2026 mini-guide identifies food-benefit options by market, so check that document and the market table for the current program before budgeting. No shared price list or standard basket is published. H Street is the broad year-round Saturday choice, Columbia Heights adds a weekday afternoon through late November, and Cleveland Park keeps a Saturday schedule into December. Confirm vendor attendance and the exact day before making a special trip.

Bottom line

Choose H Street for a year-round Saturday, Columbia Heights for a Wednesday afternoon through Nov. 25, or Cleveland Park for a Saturday market through Dec. 19.
