Ventura College Promise 2026–27: covered fees, 12-unit rule, and review dates

VC Promise is a last-dollar fee waiver for eligible Ventura College students: it covers the enrollment fee and eligible health, student-center, and student-representation fees left after other waivers. Courses at Oxnard College or Moorpark College do not count toward this program’s enrollment or unit requirements. Coverage may last up to two academic years, but the college reviews enrollment and eligibility during the year.

The general rule is at least 12 Ventura College units on review dates. DSPS students with an Academic Accommodation Plan certifying full-time status under AB 1885 may use a reduced 9–11.5-unit load. The Fall 2026 review date was September 8 and has passed; the published Spring 2027 date is February 8 at noon.

Apply to an eligible degree, certificate, or transfer program, submit the FAFSA or CADAA for the applicable year, and check your portal and First-Year Promise checklist. Keep 12 units at Ventura College on each semester review date. To qualify for a second year, the page requires 24 completed units in year one, a cumulative 2.0 GPA, and a timely FAFSA/CADAA renewal.

The waiver may shrink if the California College Promise Grant or another program already pays the same enrollment fee; the college does not duplicate that charge. Books, parking, transportation, and other costs are not among the listed VC Promise fees. Students admitted after a review date may have a late-review route, but still must meet requirements and the full unit load.

Read the program profile and the official FAFSA application guide; ask the college to confirm your individual package.

To compare this award with another college offer, ask for an itemized estimate: covered tuition and fees, other grants applied first, and the balance you would still owe. Keep confirmation of every form, and when the program requires it, submit the FAFSA or CADAA for the correct academic year. An advertised maximum or the phrase “free tuition” does not automatically include books, housing, transportation, or terms the program excludes.

Information checked October 13, 2026 against official sources. Local programs change cohorts, funding, eligibility, and calendars; a closed cycle is not an open application. Confirm your situation and the current application with the program and the college financial-aid office.

Bottom line

The program and college financial-aid office confirm eligibility, covered balance, and dates; a published maximum does not guarantee an award.
