What does Tulsa Achieves cover, and who can apply in Tulsa County?

Learn the credit limit, residency-based proration, FAFSA steps, and renewal rules for this Tulsa Community College award.

For a Tulsa County family, the real question is not simply whether a college offers a scholarship, but what remains after FAFSA and other aid and which rules apply semester after semester. Tulsa Achieves, from Tulsa Community College (TCC), covers tuition and mandatory fees up to 63 credits or three years; the percentage depends on how long the student lived in the county during high school. The official program profile brings together the application steps and contact details.

The scholarship may cover up to 100% of the eligible balance, but TCC first applies grants and scholarships from other sources. If those awards reduce the balance to zero, Tulsa Achieves is not used. The college also prorates the award: four years of county residence means 100%, the final three years 75%, junior and senior years 50%, and senior year alone 25%. TCC dual-credit hours earned in high school do not use the 63-credit scholarship limit.

Eligibility combines residence, application timing, and an immediate transition to college: live in Tulsa County, apply during senior year, graduate from a public or private high school or homeschool with at least a 2.0 unweighted GPA, and begin TCC in the fall after graduation. TCC also requires U.S. citizenship or legal U.S. residency. Moving to Tulsa after graduation is not enough; high-school residency determines both eligibility and the award percentage.

TCC’s published application path begins with admission and FAFSA; the college code is 009763. Students then sign the Tulsa Achieves agreement in the admissions portal, submit a final transcript showing graduation date and GPA, complete required orientation, and register for classes. TCC recommends starting in early October but does not publish a fixed annual deadline on its page. Confirm the cohort schedule and do not leave the transcript, agreement, or orientation until the last minute.

Renewal requires more than passing classes: keep county residency, pass six credits each fall and spring, complete 67% of attempted coursework cumulatively, file FAFSA each year, take COLL 1003, and complete 33 volunteer plus seven career-exploration hours per academic year. The GPA floor is 1.7 with up to 30 attempted credits and 2.0 at 31 or more. Before choosing a course load, confirm how these terms apply to your record with TCC Admissions at 918-595-8000 or admission@tulsacc.edu.

Bottom line

Calculate aid on the balance remaining after grants and use the student’s actual residency percentage; Tulsa Achieves does not cover every college expense.
