For Tennessee’s Class of 2027, the TN Promise application deadline is November 2, 2026. The state scholarship may cover the remaining tuition and mandatory fees after other public aid is applied, but only at participating institutions and in eligible programs. The TN Promise profile links to official application and support channels.
Students apply online during senior year, and the postsecondary institution determines Tennessee residency; separate rules apply to students completing a GED or HiSET. November 2 is the first step, not the only requirement. To continue, students must attend their assigned meeting by March 1, 2027, file the 2027–28 FAFSA by April 1—the program labels this date tentative—and enroll full time at an eligible institution in Fall 2027.
TN Promise is last-dollar aid: Pell, HOPE, TSAA, and other state aid are credited to tuition and mandatory fees first. The award changes with that aid package and can be zero if those sources already cover the balance. At participating four-year institutions, the award may be limited to an average community-college tuition benchmark; do not assume it will pay the entire university bill. Books, supplies, and course-specific or optional fees may remain uncovered.
Students also have a community-service requirement. For the 2027–28 academic year, tnAchieves says the Class of 2027 must submit at least 16 hours by August 1, 2027; another 16 hours are due for the following year, for 32 total. Eligible activities benefit a public-service or nonprofit organization; paid work, helping an individual, and donated goods do not count. The organization provides portals to log hours and find opportunities.
After the first year, keeping the scholarship requires continuous full-time enrollment, satisfactory progress, and the FAFSA and deadlines that apply to each year. Check the current eligible-institution list and confirm that your specific program qualifies; a noncredit course may not. Before accepting an aid package, ask the college’s financial-aid office about your actual balance, online-course charges, books, transport, and housing. The application deadline is close and is not restored simply by meeting the later requirements.
